Who doesn't love the leisurely British institution that is the afternoon tea? London's hotels host some of the finest, but we’ve currently got our eye on the Michelin-starred menu at The Halkin for a scrummy Spanish twist on the traditional high tea.

Set in the contemporary boutique hotel near Hyde Park, it ticks all the boxes for the perfect Mother’s Day activity, with nibbles inspired by the hallmarks of Basque cuisine and slick, contemporary surroundings that are well worth Instagramming.

The usual sandwiches have been replaced by a selection of savoury tapas, with highlights including pork croquettes, and Iberico ham and manchego cheese pillows, while the usual scones have been swapped for stunning desserts like lime custard and banana tartlet and chocolate with churros. Choose to have yours served with a chilled glass of Spanish cava for a Mother’s Day treat sure to impress.

Ametsa with Arzak Instruction afternoon tea is available every day between 3pm and 5pm, priced at £26 per person (£30 per person with a glass of cava).
