1. Spend Time on Yourself
One of the main advantages of practicing yoga daily is the downtime. When you take time out of your busy schedule for a daily yoga session, you can shut out the rest of the world and focus on yourself for an hour.
Often, we find it hard to make time for ourselves, but this should be a priority. You don’t need to feel guilty for wanting time to yourself – it’s good for your health and wellbeing.
Remember to eliminate any distractions before you start. Turn your phone off, let people know you’re going to be unavailable for the next hour and don’t get interrupted.
2. Eliminate Aches and Pains
Many people start yoga classes to combat the aches and pains that arise during everyday life – office chair induced back pain anyone? Whilst you can get good results from a weekly class, practicing every day will amplify these benefits, keeping you healthy and pain-free.
If you have a particular ailment, such as back pain, focus on poses that combat these problems, and structure your daily routine accordingly. Make sure you’re already familiar with the poses, and know how to hold them safely, with correct technique, to prevent injury.
3. Reduce Stress
Having time away from the world, and creating a sense of calm in your mind and body, is an excellent way to reduce stress. For this reason, you may decide to include daily yoga practice at the end of your day, when you get home from work. This will enable you to switch off from the day’s events, and relax – ready to enjoy your evening with your loved ones.
Alternatively, if you’re suffering from stress, it may be a good idea to include some yoga at the start of your day. This can help you create a calm, relaxed and rational mindset before you start work, reducing the impact of stress.
4. Improve Your Posture
If you have postural issues, daily yoga can help correct them and in time, it can even help you eradicate problems completely.
As many of us spend the majority of the day sitting down, often at a desk, postural abnormalities are increasingly common. It’s important to realign your body daily, stretching and strengthening the muscles to prevent future issues from developing.
5. Boost Your Immune System
Regular exercise has been found to boost the immune system and prevent illness. If you get ill regularly, yoga can be a fantastic way to clear the mind and improve physical health, too.

6. Improve the Quality of Your Sleep
If you suffer from sleep problems, such as insomnia, yoga can be a great way to address the symptoms, without medication. Whilst medication can seem like an easy option, it doesn’t target the underlying cause of the sleep problems, making it worse in the long run.
Yoga is a natural therapy, relaxing the mind and body, and creating a psychological sense of calm. To treat sleep problems, try introducing your daily yoga session just before you go to bed. Once you’ve finished, have some quiet time, before going to bed feeling well rested and ready to sleep.
