Not just for the bees, honeycomb shapes are hot in the world of interiors right now and can be worked into everything from your kitchen splash back to a bathroom floor.

Minimalist and modern, the polygon is trending big time on Pinterest in some of the chicest homes, bringing back the hexagonal tiles of the early 20th Century in a much cooler way.

We heart the motif’s ability to evoke Vintage, Moroccan, Hollywood Regency and ultra-contemporary styles all at once, while its versatile range of sizes means you can make a statement or keep it subtle depending on your taste. The look can be worked in a number of materials too, our favourite being marble, which is not only painfully fashionable in the interiors world right now but, like most luxe natural finishes, is also very timeless.

Interior designer Sophie Paterson is currently using the honeycomb trend in a couple of projects and says, "It looks particularly effective in a shower or as a kitchen splash back." The look can add up however, as Sophie adds, "It's quite an expensive material to cover a large area with so a more cost effective way of using it could be a sink splash back in a guest loo which would only require one or two tiles."

Take a peek for yourself at the range of ways you can use introduce honeycomb to your abode – trust us, this buzzworthy trend is going nowhere.
