Wondering how to spend your precious two days off? SL has rounded up the best of what to do this weekend.
Barbara Hepworth at Tate Britain
Fans of Barbara Hepworth’s impressive sculptures would be mad to miss this major retrospective of her work – the first in more than 40 years. The show includes carvings and sculptures in wood, stone and bronze, along with drawings, collages, textiles and experimental photogram works, many of which are inspired by the late artist’s studio surroundings in Cornwall.
Chop House Picnic
Make the most of the sun and head down to the Butlers Wharf Chop House, where they’ll be serving up the Ultimate British Picnic Hamper. Among the summertime favourites will be Spit-Roasted Chicken, Watercress and Mayonnaise Bridge Rolls, Gloucester Old Spot Scotch Eggs, and Kilner Jars filled with Sparkling Summer Fruit Jelly. Wash it all down with a Jensen’s Gin Cup with views of Tower Bridge.
New Cocktail Menu at The Donovan Bar
Homage to London’s Swinging Sixties, the Donovan Bar has provided the perfect excuse to visit (other than its chic wood and monochrome interior) with a brand new cocktail menu. We love the sound of the fruity Black Forest Wish, accompanied with Hix bar snacks.
