Opened: April 2015
Where is it: Harrington Road, South Kensington
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday, 10am-7pm
What kind of food: Specialist patisserie and French choux pastry in the prettiest of colour combinations and designs we’ve ever seen. In short, delectable sweet treats that are waiting to be Instagrammed as much as they are to be eaten.
The menu offers a range of éclairs, choux and chouquettes (empty choux pastry casings that are traditionally eaten in in France as a snacks or for breakfast). Yum.
Price range: £5.20 for an éclair and £3.20 for a choux – not the cheapest afternoon treat, but if you’re going to indulge you may as well do it right.
Who goes: Lily Allen was recently raving about the bakery, and practically everyone living in the South Kensington area has been. As well as the French community living in London, looking for an authentic slice of home.
We tried: All of the éclairs (well, at least a bite of each).
You must-try: The Salted Butter Caramel, Pistachio, Vanilla and Pecan.
Anything unusual: Joakim Prat, the man behind the eatery, is a three Michelin-starred chef, specialising in traditional French deserts with a modern twist.
Best for: A Sunday treat or a takeaway to impress (and pretend that you made them) your dinner party guests.
Our favourite thing about it was: You’d be hard pushed to find prettier pastries outside of Paris. A visit is worth it alone just to see the artisan skill that goes into making these.
The Small Print: The price… £5.20 for one éclair certainly makes this a treat – on the hips and the purse strings.
