10 Reasons To Visit Ibiza Before Closing

With closing parties not until early October, there is still plenty of time to enjoy the inimitable white isle. Here are just ten of them….

1. Es Vive

There is an abundance of hotels to choose between, from full-blown resort to boutique – Es Vive is very much the latter. The hotel was refurbed this year and has stayed true to its hip art deco theme – and it works. Rooms are chic with velvet headboards, muted paint colours and marble bathrooms. For the price you accept the cosy bathrooms because Es Vive is incredibly reasonable and well located.

Your fellow guests are fun loving and the rooftop sky bar, which plays cool beats until 11pm, is not wasted on anyone. There is also a decent-sized pool, day spa, extremely tasty food and generally, like everywhere in Ibiza, lots going on. And for those who don’t want the fun to end, the soundproof night club, open until 7am, means it never has to.

Double rooms from around 180 euros.

2. Nassau Beach Club

These days, those in the know tell you to forget the Blue Marlin unless you’re the kind of person who likes to over pay in the hope of being seen. Nowadays it’s all about Nassau – a beach club in Playa d’en Bossa with the kind of laid-back atmos you can’t help but revel in. The setting combines Ibiza charm with the modern beach chic of somewhere like Miami and it’s the perfect place for a late lunch (Crab Salad, Seafood Linguine kind of menu) and copious amounts of rosé.

3. Glitterbox at Space

If you thought a night at Space, one of Ibiza’s most iconic clubs, sounded too hardcore for you then Saturday night’s Glittberbox is the one to break you in gently. This disco house night has been making headlines all summer (not least in Net-a-Porter’s, The Edit magazine) and rightly so. If raving at DC10 fills you with fear then get yourself down to Glitterbox for a whole lot of sparkle, glitz and serious fun.

4. Destino

A day at Destino should be top of the list. Whether you’re heading along for one of their weekly day pool parties or a mouthwatering lunch, this smart and stylish resort, opened by the Pacha group in 2013, is hard to beat. Book yourself a poolside cabana, tuck into some sashimi and sleep off the night before. Reinvigorated you’ll be ready and raring for cocktails in the hot tub whilst the DJ plays. This is how you dreamt Ibiza would be…

5. Lio

Lio is where the yachties come out to play. Right on the seafront inside a marina, this epic venue (with a matching epic view of the most mega super-yachts and behind it, in contrast, Dalt Villa) is a seriously swanky restaurant, cabaret and night club (in that order).

If you have money to burn then treat yourself to dinner and a prime seat whilst you watch one of the world’s most exclusive cabaret shows; alternatively turn up from 10pm, pay the 70 Euro entry fee and party amongst the best dressed and most glamorous set you’ll see.

6. Amante Beach Club

Take a drive into the hills for lunch with a different kind of view. At award-winning Amante you start to appreciate some of the real beauty this island has to offer. Set in a stunning cove (with luxe day beds down below where the sea literally laps at your feet), it combines style, sophistication and breathtaking views over dramatic cliffs.
The food is first class, as is the service, and if you thought Amante was beautiful by day, just wait until the sun goes down and the beats get going. This is the venue for the most memorable party (or wedding) imaginable.

7. The Harbour Club

For a dinner spot pre-party you can’t go wrong with The Harbour Club. This super-stylish restaurant is the ideal option to get yourself in the mood for the night ahead. Discerning foodies are fast becoming fans of this sexy, city-style destination overlooking Talamanca Beach.

8. Experimental Beach

Anyone who is anyone raves about Experimental as THE place to chill out and watch the sunset. The crowd is young and unpretentious, and the cocktails are pretty cool too (as are the good-looking staff, dressed in Bretons stripes and denim). It’s a bit of a drive down a long track but worth it when the weather is good and you want to take it down a level after a big one the night before. And if you’re looking for a venue for a private party, this is it.

9. La Oliva

Dinner in Dalt Villa, an UNESCO world heritage site, is a must for idyllic surroundings and quintessential Spanish style. Book in at La Oliva for rustic food with a hint of Asian flavour and relax at romantic wooden tables and chairs while you watch the hustle and bustle go by.

10. Atzaro

For somewhere utterly removed, Ibiza vets well and truly unwind at the rural Atzaro. A converted farmhouse hotel with white-washed walls, olive groves and more than a touch of hipster about it, a stay here will allow you to dip and in out of busy island life exactly when you feel like it.
