Pantone – the world-renowned authority on colour and technology forecasting – have announced their shade of 2016, and for the first time ever it's a blend of two colours – Rose Quartz (a warm pink) and Serenity (a cool and tranquil blue).
Based on the changing tastes of consumers, the colours are meant to reflect our newfound penchant for mindfulness and wellbeing, our yearning for a sense of peace, as well as the changing face of fashion – think genderless clothing and a move away from typecasting – and interiors – it's official: minimalist and ordered homes are 'in.'
"We wanted compassion, which today a lot of people are looking for," says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantones Colour Institute."The colours are meant to induce feelings of stability, constancy, comfort and relaxation, a way to create balance in a chaotic world."
