RIP: Jelly Flush in 'Cranberry Rum' | Jelly Pong Pong

Eulogy: Rumour has it, Kate Moss used to swear by this blusher, and avid fans still beg for it to make a return today. Dewy and sheer in texture, it gave a rosy glow that was youthful and fresh.

Reincarnation: Shiseido’s Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush may not be a like for like, but the generous dose of colour it provides is similar to Jelly Pong Pong – and it’s as soft and blendable too. The perfect balance between a cream and powder, it lasts for hours and gives skin a healthy glow that looks plump and fresh. It’s quickly become a staple for many make-up artists and industry insiders.

RIP: Ink For Eyes Cream Eyeliner in 'Demolition' | Urban Decay

Eulogy: This was both a precise liner and easy crème that was easy to apply, even for eyeliner novices. With serious inkiness and a budge-proof formula, you can see why it was once so popular.

Reincarnation: Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Ink in ‘Chocolate Shimmer’ is one of the best substitutes we’ve come across. Soft, pliable and great for building definition, it has a universally flattering tone and, just like Urban Decay’s original formula, it’s easy to build upon without creases or smudges forming.

RIP: Eyeshadow in 'Concrete' | M·A·C

Eulogy: ‘Concrete’ was a huge hit with M·A·C fans for its medium-dark taupe tones that flattered and enhanced all eye colours. Muted yet impactful, it was the ultimate day-to-day shadow with undertones that provided just enough definition.

Reincarnation: Sephora’s Eyeshadow in ‘Mocha Latte’ is a great dupe. It has the same depth and warmth to it – not to mention impressive staying power thanks to a matte finish that doesn’t budge. We love its velvety texture, which is easy to blend out with fingers or a brush.

RIP: Acne Solutions Body Treatment Spray | Clinique

Eulogy: This convenient spray had rave reviews for its ability to help clear up back and shoulder acne. Its smell was medicinal and strong, so it felt like it was really getting the job done. Despite its popularity, it was discontinued, causing uproar.

Reincarnation: Mario Badescu’s AHA Botanical Body Wash is a worthy replacement. Claiming to be one of the most innovative bodycare buys on the market, it benefits from fruit enzymes, ginseng and linden to gently exfoliate and buff away dead skin cells. You’ll notice skin is visibly smoother within days.

RIP: Rosaliac CC Cream | La Roche-Posay

Eulogy: Fans of this CC cream loved it for its ability to tone down redness but without caking the skin in coverage. With a light finish and added SPF, it was hugely popular – particularly for those suffering with rosacea, uneven tone and general sensitivities. Since being discontinued, the brand hasn’t gone on to launch another CC, but others have…

Reincarnation: In our opinion, Dr. Jart+’s BB Cream is the best replacement you’ll find. It offers the same impressive coverage and with factor 50 protection. Better still, it comes in several shades – unlike some CC creams – and a colour-adapting formula that adjusts to your individual skin tone once dry. There’s also niacinamide inside to minimise redness, and glycerine for a dose of hydration.

RIP: Supernova Mascara | Fresh

Eulogy: Volumising, thickening and clump-free are just a few of the attributes given to Fresh’s much-missed mascara. Gone but not forgotten, it was a one-stop shop for all lash needs.

Reincarnation: L’Oréal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara has a brush that’s almost identical to the Supernova one. Slightly curved and with evenly distributed bristles, it hugs the lash line and picks up all lashes – both at the inner and outer corners, boosting volume, length and holding curl. It’s gentle too, just like Fresh’s, with a formula that’s proven to be safe for sensitive eyes.

RIP: Belle de Jour Fragrance | Dior

Eulogy: Juicy and fresh, this beloved Dior fragrance was full of pear, rose and woody notes that gave a sexy, warm and sensual feel. The brand has never replaced it, leaving many seeking something similar – or at least close – to the original fragrance.

Reincarnation: Beauty Pie She Brought Peonies EDP is a close match. It uses plum and apple, as opposed to pear, but still has the same soft sweetness that’s never sickly. Perfectly balanced, you’ll also find rose and jasmine inside, as well as patchouli oil to give the extra depth and warmth that makes it so addictive. A must-try if you want a floral fragrance, but not in the traditional sense.

RIP: Firming Body Serum | Decléor

Eulogy: Few products truly ‘firm’ the body, but this certainly gave skin a more supple, toned appearance, thanks to essential oils that were clinically proven to hydrate, soften and nourish. Plus, the uplifting scent was a bonus.

Reincarnation: Clarins Renew-Plus Body Serum is a reliable classic. Though it uses different ingredients to Decléor, the idea is the same – a hard-working formula that simultaneously exfoliates and nourishes skin, with flower acids and plant extracts like water lily. It’s got a similar lightweight texture that absorbs fast and never feels sticky. We love that it gives skin a healthy-looking sheen too.

RIP: They’re Real Lipstick in 'Lusty Rose' | Benefit

Eulogy: Often referred to as the ‘perfect pink’, this soft shade was loved for its wearability and versatility – it worked well buffed onto the cheeks too. Gone but not forgotten, it is still one of Benefit’s most-requested remakes.

Reincarnation: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in ‘Gracefully Pink’ is a good match. Soft but with warm undertones, it’s easy to wear and fades nicely – just as Benefit’s did – wearing well throughout the day with no creasing or dryness, despite it being a matte texture.

RIP: Under Eye Brightening Corrector | BECCA

Eulogy: Despite the entire brand being discontinued, you can still find the odd BECCA product online if you search hard enough. One that’s impossible to locate is its popular Under Eye Brightening Corrector. Known to eliminate darkness, redness and uneven tone, it was ahead of its time and led to a stream of copycat products.

Reincarnation: Beauty Pie’s Superluminous Under Eye Genius is a great option for those missing BECCA’s Corrector. It offers the perfect amount of coverage with light-reflecting pigments that boost brightness and create an even-looking, radiant effect. It also works to tackle skin wrinkles over time with ingredients like castor and sunflower oils – these pump the skin full of moisture for a smoother appearance. Just a little underneath concealer or foundation makes a big difference.
