The Best New Fitness Classes To Try In 2019

From the latest Barry’s Bootcamp to the workout Rosie Huntington-Whiteley swears by, here we reveal the new classes that are raising heart rates in the fitness world right now. Get these six firmly on your radar for 2019…

1. Body by Simone London

Previously, you’d have to be in LA to make it to one of Simone’s sought-after classes, but not anymore. Her first studio outside of the US is about to launch in London on 2nd February and we can’t wait. The classes mix her dance background with low-weight repetitions to help sculpt and tone. They’re also great for anyone who hates heavy equipment: ‘We use resistance bands, trampolines and yoga mats but we don’t use machines. The idea is to use your own body weight,’ confirms Simone. If it’s good enough for the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Reese Witherspoon....

2. HIIS

New kid on the block HIIS (high intensity interval skipping) is here to strengthen your entire body in short, sharp bursts. It’s also said to burn more calories than other forms of cardio including spinning – no wonder Gigi Hadid is such a fan. But don’t expect to just be jumping along happily for this 60-minute class. You’ll also be doing some burpees, press-ups and squat thrusts in a bid to burn up to 1,200 calories. Exhausting yes, but the results speak for themselves.

3. Ten Stretch

Designed for stressed-out bodies and desk workers, this class incorporates controlled, stretch movements that carefully align the body, while focusing on weary muscles. The sessions aim to give all the effects akin to a deep tissue massage, so you can expect to feel looser, less tense and may even find you’re sleeping better. While you won’t break a sweat, you can consider this a real investment to your health.

4. Barry's Bootcamp Canary Wharf

Barry’s fans rejoice! This fitness phenomenon opened their fifth studio this 2019 in London’s Canary Wharf. The format remains the same and you can still expect booming, motivating music and dimmed studios. If you’ve not tried it before, prepare to become addicted to the intense classes on offer that aim to sculpt and slim silhouettes at breakneck speed, burning up to 800-1,000 calories per session. Perfect for those who want to feel the burn and enjoy interval-based classes with weights.

The mini videos won’t take you more than 10 minutes and are designed to help get you moving in a fun, accessible way with dance expert and Influencer Danielle Peazer. You won’t feel like you’ve done something really hardcore, but you will get a bit of cardio sting while feeling revitalised.

It draws on the basics of animal motion, so get ready to crawl, hop, jump and lunge.
