Move aside skinny jeans, the flare has arrived in full fashion fanfare for spring 2015, with designers such as Tom Ford, House of Holland, Balmain and Céline strutting theirs on the runway.

A retro throwback to the Seventies, flares can be notoriously tricky to style, but are also slimming, flattering and lend a chic bohemian vibe to a getup. Unsure how to wear them? Sticking to a denim pair is a safe way to ease yourself into the trend.

Keep the look circa 2015 by opting for a high-rise bell-bottom in a dark wash and team with pared-back layers and crisp tailoring. Take a leaf out of VB’s book with her failsafe combination of silk shirt, platform heels and tailored military coat to dress up this laid-back look, or work yours at the office with a polo neck and pea coat duo.
