The Sydney-based duo started their blog as a fashion and lifestyle-driven Tumblr packed with images of 'It Girls', inspirational quotes, pop-culture references and glamorous editorials, and now it’s also become their own personal style guide, packed with videos and a fashion and beauty eCommerce section where lovers of their laidback, inner-city style can snap up their favourite pieces.
The girls met while both working for an Australian street wear company: “You could say it was love at first sight,” says Elle. “The blog came about because we had covered every wall in the office with collages of things we loved... Street style... Handbags… The list goes on. We were sending emails with similar inspirational images and one day crashed the server. From there we knew we needed somewhere we could share these images, and Tash's husband (who's in IT) suggested we start a blog. The rest is history.”
Now the rest of the world can swoon over their beautiful and inspiring images and outfit choices – a stylish blend of bohemian and luxe that has never been reflected better than in their favourite SS15 shows. Elle cites “Chloé for overseas and Toni Maticevski locally,” among her favourite brands, while Tash says, “It was like the Chloé collection was designed especially for me – boho luxe with denim… Perfection.”
The duo also curate their favourite labels on the eCommerce section of the site, so likeminded fashionistas can snap up their edit of Aussie style. “The last three things I bought were a Bassike navy silk shirt, a red LV Pom Pom for my bag and a pair of reflector Ray-Ban sunglasses ... Oh, and the red wild-thing Aquazzuras,” says Elle, while Tash invested in a Chloé denim maxi skirt, Aquazurra’s striped heels and a Gucci tan suede bag – girls after our own hearts it seems.
But just like us all, the They All Hate Us girls are always side-eyeing some wish list items: Chloé’s lace dress, a Chanel 5.0 denim bag, brogues and Gucci flares for Tash and a mini Hermès jelly bag for Elle.
Their most legit style advice? “Trust that little voice in your head, always listen to your mum and remember that leggings are not pants!” Thanks Elle!
And from Tash: “Invest in pieces that are timeless and that you can re-wear over and over without people noticing. Better to have nice things than lots of stuff.” Ladies, take note.
