But, are they a simple and effective detox, or an arduous task that leaves you hungry and tired? To find out whether they’re worth the hype, SL tried the three-day detox from Presscription Juices…
What is the Presscription Juice Cleanse?
Whilst Presscription offers a range of cleanses, we opted for the three-day signature cleanse – ideal for a gentle introduction to juicing. The daily juices are designed to support the body’s natural detoxification process, and are packed with vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals (naturally occurring compounds found in plants). Just choose your desired cleanse, and your juices will be delivered to your door, beautifully packaged, and ready for you to pop them in the fridge.
What makes this cleanse different?
All Presscription juices are raw, fresh, organic and unprocessed, unlike some alternatives on the market. Many detoxes have very small portions, so we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the bottles. Plus, when ordering online you can leave a note at the checkout if you have certain preferences, for example, if you don’t like ginger or would prefer no fruit juices.
And how much juice do you have each day?
You’ll have eight bottles to drink each day, five 500ml cold pressed juices, one 500ml Nut Mylk and two booster shots – each clearly labelled to make following the programme as easy as possible. Our favourites were the Green Revive, Mylk Make Well, and the Energise shot.
Don’t you feel hungry?
Though hunger pangs were an issue on day one, by the end of day three we were no longer counting down the minutes to our next juice and, actually, barely noticed the absence of food. Be aware that the volume of liquid is actually quite a lot to consume at once, but it will keep you fuller for longer.
The most obvious benefit of the Presscription cleanse was a big increase in energy, by the end of day three and the morning after, we felt much more awake – barely needing an alarm to wake up, a stark contrast to our usual snooze struggle. Other benefits included clearer skin, brighter eyes and a flatter stomach, due to a decrease in bloating. Though we didn’t measure any weight loss, the cleanse left us feeling lighter and motivated to continue our health kick into the New Year.
