Who knew a hairdryer could cause so much excitement? When tech gurus Dyson announced their first foray into the beauty world with the creation of the Supersonic™, the industry went crazy with anticipation. And if you’re yet to try the iconic dryer, you’re missing out. Promising smoother locks in a fraction of the usual time – and with less noise than a traditional dryer – this high-tech game-changer is revolutionising hair styling regimes.
With four different heat settings, three airflow settings and dedicated smoothing, styling and diffuser attachments, this new-generation dryer is prime to perfect your blow-drying technique. So, whether you lust after just-woke-up-like-this waves, want to enhance your natural curls or prefer a poker-straight look, follow these steps to get a gorgeous blow-dry at home, whatever your style...
Step 1: Apply serum through the mid-lengths and ends of wet hair to help tame frizz and encourage a sleek finish.
Step 2: To create volume at the roots, tip hair to one side and direct the heat from the hairdryer using the smoothing nozzle.
Step 3: Repeat the same process in the opposite direction. At the same time, use your fingers to lift the hair at the root for added volume.
Step 4: Complete the look by blow-drying through the mid-lengths and ends with a paddle brush to guarantee a super-sleek finish.
Step 1: Towel dry hair, then spray all the way through with a curl-enhancing styling cream or mousse, starting at the roots and working through to the ends.
Step 2: Once hair is prepped, set the hairdryer to its lowest temperature and slowest speed setting, then attach the diffuser to the dryer.
Step 3: Take small sections of hair and twist the strands until your entire head of hair is separated into sections (this will stop the hair from frizzing).
Step 4: Place hair in the diffuser one large section at a time. Gently blow-dry all over for smooth curls and finish by separating with your fingers.
Step 1: Apply a volumising mousse through wet hair from root to tip – this will help to give lift at the crown and make it easier to create a wavy look.
Step 2: Blow-dry hair in sections using the styling concentrator and a small round brush. A smaller brush will create more volume and the nozzle will focus the heat where it’s needed.
Step 3: Roll each section under and upwards and pin into place – the more rolls you can create, the tighter the waves will be.
Step 4: Use a strong-hold hairspray all over and gently release the pin curls. You can use your fingers to bend hair to exaggerate the waves.
