Trend Alert: Step Hem Jeans

Favourites 9

Cult Parisian label Vetements is responsible for a multitude of 2017’s biggest trends. Propelling athleisure into the spotlight last year, the brand’s denim has also been a surprise hit, with their now iconic boyfriend jean style repeatedly selling out despite an £800 price tag. And it hasn’t taken long for their signature step hem design to catch on, either, with a host of affordable designers now replicating the detail, meaning you don’t have to shell out a small fortune to get the high fashion look.

With the back of the jean longer than the front, the clever step hem is a flattering cut, showing a flash of skin whilst elongating the leg thanks to the extra fabric behind. The look has been sported by everyone from stylist Pernille Teisbaek to blogger Emma Hill, and it’s the easy way to update a classic jeans and a tee combo. Simple but effective, team with everything from Mary Janes to backless pumps for an on-trend denim twist.
