We’re enjoying summer as much as the next girl, but we’re also conscious not to undo all our hard work in the gym. So, to ensure we get our drinks fix without the huge calorie hit, we’ve found the best diet-friendly drinks and cocktails to order at the bar…

Prosecco has fewer calories than white wine, containing around 80 per glass. Or, for those really watching their waistlines, Thomson & Scott’s Skinny Prosecco is just 67 calories per glass. Which means we can definitely have two, right?

Surprisingly, a half-pint of beer contains around 82-90 calories, but it’s best to steer clear if you’re going to have more.

Gin & Tonic

Containing just 97 calories, this British classic is well-known as a diet-friendly option. Most clear spirits are a good as they contain less sugar than their darker counterparts, such as dark rum and whiskey. Click here for some of our favourite recipes to inspire your next cocktail session.

When a glass of Champagne only racks up 84 calories, there really is every reason to crack open a bottle. Take inspiration from some our favourite budget buys.

A straight-up Martini clocks in at only 73 calories, so it’s ideal for those watching their intake

A vodka with soda and lime is just 76 calories. For the more discerning spirit drinker, simply add a dash of Tabasco, a few olives and drink neat – cutting out mixers will significantly reduce calories. A Bloody Mary is also a good choice.

Tequila is made using agave, which means it's naturally sweet, so a dash of soda and lime makes this Mexican spirit a refreshing, diet-friendly option; it usually contains around 64-69 calories per 25ml shot.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, a traditionally made Cosmopolitan should only equate to about 99 calories.

White Wine

Some wines contain up to almost 300 calories per large glass so stick to small glasses, which usually contain around 87 calories. Alternatively, opt for a low-calorie or low-sugar wine – here are our favourites.
