9 New Fitness Studios To Visit Now

Favourites 13

From spin studios to hip hop yoga, these are the capital’s hottest new workout spaces to visit now...

One 10 Cycle

The brainchild of former GB Olympic athlete Tim Benjamin, this new pay-as-you-train boutique spin studio offers two very different but equally addictive classes under one roof. Choose between an energetic, feel-good party ride (Nirvana) or an intense workout that pushes strength and power to the limit (Paceline). The best bit? You can even track your stats as you go on the One 10 app, making this the ideal studio for the more competitive gym bunny.

16 Baker Street W1U 3BL. First-timers can get two credits for £20; classes start at £18 thereafter.

Psycle Shoreditch

London fitness favourite Psycle just got even better – not only is there a new studio in Shoreditch (a two-minute walk from the Overground), there’s also an impressive timetable offering more than just spinning. While Psycle’s original spin classes are second to none – known for whipping you into shape in no time, the intense sessions really are a baptism of fire – the new line-up incorporates yoga, HIIT and barre classes, too, for full conditioning of both body and mind. Whether you’re after an immersive session at the barre or a slower-paced yin yoga class, this latest outpost is the holistic wellness venture we’ve been waiting for.

17 Whitby Street, E1 6JU. Get your first four classes for just £20.

Metabolic

Founded by ex-premier league hockey player Lawrence Hannah with investment from Olympian Denise Lewis, Metabolic offers a fitness experience like no other. A veritable athlete’s playground, classes (some of the toughest around, you have been warned) include Quick HIIT, a 30-minute lunchtime smasher; Metabolic Signature, a 55-minute blast of HIIT and strength exercises; and not forgetting Meta-Row, the capital’s very first boutique rowing class.

Next to Mornington Crescent Tube. Single classes are priced at £20 although a first-time offer of £10 is currently available.

Oncore

Bringing spin, HIIT and yoga to the Clapham crowd, new-kid-on-the-block Oncore is a small, friendly studio located a stone’s throw from Clapham Common station. While there’s just one workout space (which can be cleverly transformed from yoga haven to nightclub-esque spin studio in a flash), expect a full-body workout every time. While the studio may not be as slick as its central London counterparts, this is still a swish place to get sweaty and we guarantee you’ll be booking in before you’ve even left.

106 Triangle Place, 65 Clapham Park Road SW4 7EQ. Classes start from £8.

BXR

Carefully crafted and beautifully designed, at BXR London, you won’t find a single kettlebell out of place. A clever combination of the old-school membership model with the newer boutique fitness drop-in classes (Sweat by BXR in the basement offers a boutique studio experience), BXR places a heavy emphasis on boxing. Backed by IBF Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua, the classes span circuit training, combat disciplines, strength and conditioning as well as countless group classes for a workout and then some (fitness fiends should check out the VersaClimber). After your session, re-set with a physio appointment and relax in the Insta-worthy changing rooms before hot-footing it to brunch at Chiltern Firehouse, conveniently located at the end of the road.

24 Paddington Street, Marylebone W1U TQX. Membership is priced at £180 per month (or £1,800 per annum) along with a £180 joining fee while pay-as-you-go classes start from £15.

Boom Cycle Hammersmith

Cult spinning studio Boom Cycle has set up shop in Hammersmith, offering hardcore cardio alongside a resident Grind cafe to keep you buzzing for hours. Each 45-minute spin session is choreographed to a carefully curated playlist (the sound systems are imported from Space in Ibiza) that varies depending on your instructor’s favourite genre – check ahead to make sure your session is up your street, whether you’re a Kanye or Kygo kind of girl. Post-sweat session, showers packed with REN products and Dyson hairdryers have you covered. A fourth studio is also set to open in Battersea in the next few weeks too, so stay tuned.
