5 Autumn Beauty Trends To Try Now

Favourites 16

From lived-in smudged eyes to bold lashes and lips, look to the catwalks for new season beauty inspiration. Runway makeup has a habit of being rather off the wall, but these are the five looks everyone should try and we’ve found the products to help you achieve them…

THE LOOK: Flushed Pink Cheeks

Fake a natural flush with a hard-working blush – we love Laura Mercier’s cult Crème Cheek Colour, £21.50. To keep the look fresh and modern, apply concealer only where needed, add highlighter to areas of the face that naturally catch the light and sweep a crème or powder blush over cheekbones and lips for a healthy-looking finish. If you invest in one complexion-perfecting product this autumn, make it Chanel’s Palette Essentielle, £48.60, a trio of cream concealer, blusher and highlighter for radiance on-the-go.

THE LOOK: Smudged Eyes

This season’s take on the smoky eye, the smudged look is even easier to achieve. Simply sweep a bold black base all over the eyelid for drama before switching to a soft gold to highlight the inner corners. Smudge the gold into the black base, then take it under the eye with a small angled brush to soften. Marc Jacob’s Eye-Conic Palette, £39, is on our wish-list; a luxe collection of rich pigments in matte velvet, satin, silk and lamé finishes that makes smudged eyes a breeze.

THE LOOK: Stand-Out Lashes

Season in, season out, a killer pair of lashes never fails to make an impact. Intensify your look this autumn with a clumped effect – apply several layers of mascara to the eye and, while still wet, carefully use tweezers to pinch the lashes together in small clumps. Repeat the process across the top and lower lashes for the ultimate effect. On the look-out for a new mascara? Make a bee-line for Tom Ford’s Extreme Mascara, £36, which is brimming with the darkest black carbon and lash-filling powders for a full flutter.

THE LOOK: Flawless Base

A flawless yet natural-looking base is the beauty world’s holy grail. Still on the hunt for your ultimate foundation? Look no further than YSL’s brand new All Hours Liquid Foundation, £33.50, a long-lasting, matte formula that has you covered from day to night. For a polished finish, apply with the All Hours Blender, £14; dampen the flat side of the sponge and use long strokes to blend. Then, with a dabbing motion, lightly apply foundation to areas that require extra coverage.

THE LOOK: Two-Tone Lips

For a beauty look that won’t go unnoticed, try this classic clash. Prime lips first to make the colours really pop; try orangey-red on one lip and hot pink on the other. Start by lining the lips with coordinating lip liners, then choose highly-pigmented colours with a matte finish to keep the look contemporary. Apply each shade with an angled brush for precision and you’re good to go. Just remember the golden rule and keep the rest of your make-up paired-back to let your lips do the talking.
