Yoga in the Walkways

Like your vinyasa with a view? Experience one of the capital’s most breathtaking classes at Yoga in the Walkways – a sunrise yoga class held 42 metres about the River Thames in the heights of Tower Bridge. Santa Run

Be one of the thousands of Santas to descend on London’s Victoria Park this December for the annual Santa Run. With the option to choose a 5K or 10K route, the entry fee also includes a free Santa costume so there’s no excuse not to fit in on the day. Father Christmas not your thing? Elves, reindeer, snowmen and the like are all welcome and there are prizes for the best costumes. For those based in south London, there’s also a race in Clapham Common.

Virgin London Marathon

If you weren’t lucky enough to get a place in this year’s ballot (applications were up 29% on last year) then remember there are plenty of charity places up for grabs. The legendary London Marathon covers 26.2 miles of the capital’s streets and is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Quiet Club

For a fitness event with a difference, check out Just Breathe, London’s largest modern meditation movement. Launching this month, The Quiet Club is the perfect antidote to busy city life, offering weekly group meditation and mindfulness sessions. If you’re a gym bunny, give yourself a rest day and take the time to nurture your mental wellbeing.

Smokin’ Joga

World renowned DJ Smokin’ Jo is bringing her talent from dance clubs to yoga studios in a new concept that will change the way you channel your inner warrior. A melding of Jo’s dance training and vinyasa flow yoga will launch on 12th October, with music in each class chosen and especially mixed by Jo. Expect amazing house music and electronic grooves alongside a dose of blissed-out vibes.

Putney Riverside 10K

This flat, scenic 10k is ideal for those looking to smash a PB. The route runs parallel to the Thames and crosses Putney Bridge, so expect stunning London views and a friendly atmosphere. The entry fee covers supervised bag storage, chip timing, plenty of freebies and the opportunity to book in for a post-run massage.

Black Light Boxing

If boxing’s your thing, book a space at Black Light Boxing with The BoxxMethod for a class with a difference. Combining intense shadow boxing with HIIT training with no bags, pads or ring, this is a fitness challenge like no other – the class even takes place in the near-dark with only black lights to illuminate the room. Tickets include a post-workout drink and goodie bag.

Great Barrow Challenge

One of the UK’s top extreme sporting events, the Great Barrow Challenge isn’t for the faint-hearted. Their winter offering – The Xmas Triple Tipple – sees participants running three marathons over three days in the stunning Suffolk countryside. Single days are also available in early 2018, so if you want a New Year’s challenge (and to burn off a few mince pies), look no further.

Secret Gin Run

The ideal way to get your fitness fix while learning about your favourite tipple. The 10k run (there are paced groups for all abilities) includes a stop at one of London’s historic gin palaces as well as plenty of gin-themed games to play along the way. All runners are treated to a well-deserved gin and tonic post-run as well as a gin-themed goodie bag – running is thirsty work after all.

Trick or Treat Run London

Whether you’re looking for a sugar-free way for little ones to get into the Halloween spirit or keen to do something with the girls, look to Trick or Treat Run London. A 2.5k and 5k route are available but both will see you winding your way in the moonlight through Southwark Park – expect pumpkin parties, ghastly ghouls and wicked witches. There are even prizes for the best costumes and a live DJ and bar after-dark. A family-friendly afternoon session is also available.

Whether you’re just starting out on your yoga journey or looking to master more advanced poses, the experts at Triyoga have you covered. As well as a whole host of daily classes across five studios in the capital, dozens of workshops are also on offer.
