From her favourite hotels around the world to where she gets her health kicks, as part of our week with Whitney Bromberg Hawkings – Co-Founder and CEO of FLOWERBX – we’ve delved into her Little Black Book to suss out a few of her favourite things…

Last incredible meal you had? Any and every meal cooked by Ruthie at the River café. It’s my favourite place to go for comfort food or Sunday lunch and it’s also the perfect restaurant to take the kids to – when it’s sunny they can play outside.

Favourite London restaurant dish?  Spaghetti all’astice at Riva. It’s my special place – we always come for date night as it’s the perfect romantic spot.

Which restaurant has the best interiors? Casa Cruz in Notting Hill. It’s a perfect spot for girls’ night – I recommend the spicy corn or the artichoke salad.

Favourite Asian restaurant?  Ken Lo’s Memories of China for Chinese and Sake No Hana for Sushi.

Best new discovery? Farmgirl Café in Chelsea.

Where would you take a client to impress? Isabel in Mayfair.

Best for brunch?  Farmacy for delicious, healthy fare.

What’s the place you’ve yet to try but really want to?  Chloe – a new vegan restaurant in Covent Garden.

Which hotel, anywhere in the world, would you happily move into?  The Ritz in Paris, the Carlyle in New York  or the Connaught in London.

Favourite Paris haunts? Hôtel Costes, Thiou for Thai Food, Kinugawa for Japanese food, and Brasserie Lipp and Café de Flore for pure French snobbism at its best.

And what about New York?  I love The Butcher’s Daughter for healthy lunch, the Waverly Inn for a delicious dinner in a cosy setting, and O Ya for the best Japanese I’ve ever had.

Have you travelled anywhere recently that you absolutely loved? Kauai in Hawaii is heaven on earth and I can’t wait to go back. 

Favourite beach holiday?  Lamu off the coast of Kenya is paradise.

What about for a city break?  We have a cottage in Wiltshire where we escape at any and every chance we can, so we rarely take a “city break”.

Where do you go if you’re in need of a health kick?  I stay in, don’t drink, and eat even more veggies than usual.

What about fitness? Favourite gym?  Heartcore Pilates.

And your favourite workout class? Reformer Pilates.


Best facial in London? Sarah Chapman’s Skinesis – she’s a magician.

Where do you get your nails done? At home by the lovely, talented Rasa.

And hair? Monika from Blo on Chelsea Green.

Best spa? Bamford Haybarn spa at the Berkeley.

Favourite London boutiques? Browns East, Dover Street Market and Alex Eagle’s ‘The Store’.

Favourite department stores? Browns and Selfridges.

Where’s great for shopping gifts? The Store.

Where’s best for childrenswear?  La Coqueta or Amaia on Chelsea Green.

Where do you shop online? Matches, Farfetch, Mytheresa (and FLOWERBX, of course).


Favourite museum or gallery? The Serpentine, White Cube and Sadie Coles.

Which exhibition should everyone check out? Rachel Whiteread at the Tate.

Favourite cinema? The Electric.

Where do you like to go as a family? Anywhere, as long as we’re together.

Do you have any hidden gems we won’t know about? Can’t tell – must keep them secret!

Where do you go if you want to go dancing? Annabels, always.
