The Airline Offering Long-Haul Flights For Less

British weather getting you down? It might be time to hop on a long-haul flight to warmer climes. But if you thought your budget wouldn’t stretch across the Atlantic then we’ve got some good news – because low-cost airline Norwegian Air is expanding its network to South America…

Well this is exciting… where can we fly to?

It sure is. The low-cost airline is already known for its cheap flights to New York and LA, but it’s now launched a new route to Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. Famed for its spontaneous tango shows and world-renowned steak, this cosmopolitan hub is the dream destination for Britons on a budget: a one-way ticket will set you back just £259.

How much cheaper is it?

British Airways flies directly to Buenos Aires from London, but won’t get you there for much less than £850 return, while Aerolíneas Argentinas – the national carrier – can be even more expensive. Spanish airline Iberia will get you there for cheaper, but you’ll still be looking at more than double the cost of flying with Norwegian.

What’s there to do in Buenos Aires?

Buenos Aires is widely known as the Paris of South America for its wide boulevards and Haussmann architecture, which give it a chic, European feel. For culture buffs, the city has around 300 theatres showcasing everything from underground indie productions to world-class opera, while shoppers should head to the trendy Palermo Soho area. Above all, be sure to grab a table at a traditional ‘parilla’ (barbecue grill restaurant) to sample the local cuisine and kick back with a glass of Malbec.

Any other routes in the pipeline?

According to Norwegian Air CEO Bjørn Kjos, the firm is working on plans for a host of other routes spanning Brazil, Chile and Uruguay, while further afield the airline has Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing in its sights, as long as it receives permission from Moscow to fly along the Siberian corridor – the most direct route across Russia to the Far East.

Finally...

We were excited when Norwegian launched their New York and LA sale last Autumn, and we’re equally excited about this. Trip to Buenos Aires, anyone?
