Wine Bar at Londrino
We’re big fans of chef Leandro Carreira (formerly of Viajante, Lyle’s and Koya) so were pleased when he opened his very first restaurant just before Christmas. Now, he’s launched a wine bar within the same building, which offers small-plate bar snacks to complement his modern Portuguese cooking in the main restaurant. Alongside oysters with samphire vinaigrette and a ‘Porto’ hotdog, guests can sip on an extensive selection of wine and a mean port and tonic.

Lobby Bar at The London EDITION
The home of Jason Atherton’s Berners Tavern also plays host to two pretty special bars. One of them, the Lobby Bar, has just undergone a significant refurbishment. A twist on a traditional hotel entrance, this is a great spot for people watching – we’d do so from one of the plush new green-velvet sofas or the snooker table. Head Bartender Robyn Wilkie has refreshed the bar menu too. We like the sound of the Havana Moon, made with Havana 7, caramel stout and walnut bitters followed by truffle and gruyère croquettes from the bar snack menu.

The Coach
Established in 1790, this longstanding neighbourhood pub continues to be a cornerstone of Clerkenwell. Restored in January this year, The Coach has been taken over by ex-Rancine chef Henry Harris. Now, it’s an upscale boozer (picture original stained glass wood-panelled walls against statement glass partitions and bold use of paint) that focuses on food – highlights from the menu include mussels, cider, leeks and bacon with chips followed by rhubarb meringue with Negroni syrup. A pretty garden will hit the mark once the sun comes out to play.

Prosecco House
The name says it all when it comes to this one. Located just by Tower Bridge, this new opening is a place where people can buy, sample and learn about DOCG prosecco. Away from the pure stuff, a selection of cocktails uses fizz as a starting point: we like the sound of the House Spritz, which muddles prosecco, Fever Tree tonic and Berto Aperitivo. Need to line your stomach? The kitchen specialises in small plates that focus on the Veneto region of Italy.

The Donovan Bar at Brown’s Hotel
Following a successful pop-up at the Mayfair hotel in December, drinks maestro Salvatore Calabrese is set to take over the opulently refurbished Donovan Bar at Brown’s Hotel from 9th April. Once reopened, he’ll serve new and signature creations alongside a selection of vintage cocktails made with some of the rarest spirits from his own personal collection. Throughout the bar, racing green accents and touches of gold work well against Sir Terrance Donovan’s black-and-white fashion portraits, which line the walls. We’re keen to hole up in the eight-seat ‘Naughty Corner’.

Swingers West End
Following a successful launch in the City in 2016, crazy golf club Swingers has opened a site in the West End. This time, the venue is taken on a British seaside/1920s English Riviera theme and there are two different nine-hole golf courses. Street food vendors located in beach huts include Patty & Bun, Made of Dough, Breddos Tacos and Hackney Gelato, while the all-day Bandstand Bar and Grand Hotel Bar (inspired by the grand Palm Courts of Brighton) specialises in cocktails.

Ace Hotel London Shoreditch
Shoreditch’s coolest hotel has just given its Lobby Bar a makeover, extending the space in the process. To celebrate, the hotel has refreshed its gallery space in the bar to feature an exhibition of emoji art by visual artist Matthieu Lavanchy. Brand new food and drink menus have also been unveiled – we’re keen to try The Golden Pear – Glenmorangie 10, Nikka FTB, yellow chartreuse, poire, fino sherry and golden syrup (not one for the lightweights!).
