Our furniture is designed in-house by Love Your Home’s Owner & Founder, Leigh Harmer, and handmade by us in our workshop. The website displays all products in a variety of fabrics, however only our house fabrics are available to order online. An exclusive bespoke fabric selection is available to view in-store, or we’re happy to send bespoke fabric packs out; based on customers’ specific needs. This is the same for our ‘Make It Yours’ bespoke furniture service.

How many styles/fabrics/shades are there to choose from?

We have 11 different House fabric collections, with up to 24 colours in each collection. In the showroom we have many, many more fabrics available. We are happy to work with our customers to create what they need, no matter how creative.

Where’s the showroom based?

Love Your Home is located in a beautiful 17th-century barn in the idyllic Surrey Hills. Our staff are passionate about the product and are happy to help, and Leigh is also based there.

Do you offer finance options? 

Yes, we offer 0% interest-free credit on orders over £1,000, with a 10% deposit and the option to repay over six, 12 or 18 months.

Does the brand make sofas for small spaces?

Definitely – our corner sofas come in two parts, and all our sofas have removable legs. Our sofa beds all come apart too, to help with access. If a space is particularly small, our bespoke ‘Make It Yours’ will ensure you find the perfect design.

And what about measuring up the space you have to work with – any tips?

We have a ‘Will It Fit’ guide online, which details all our top tips for measuring. To get an idea of how your space will work around the sofa we also suggest marking the floor with low-tack masking tape.

How long should a sofa last?

Our sofas are all handmade using only solid FSC hardwood, they’re guaranteed for ten years, but we would expect the lifetime of the sofa to exceed this. We use a high loft feather with better recovery, these are held in duvet-like cells, to stop the filling clumping together – it also requires less plumping and keeps its shape for longer. Fabric is a key component too; stain resistant fabric will still look good in ten years, while brushed cotton will start to age in five.
 

Can you order them Scotchgarded or protected?

Yes, we offer Guardsman protection, a policy to protect against damage, or a physical spray, dependant on the fabric type.
 

Any tips on what to go for?

We always encourage customers with children and/or pets to choose from our Stain Resistant Velvet or Linen collections; we have so many great fabrics, and some are very robust indeed. Our new Pure Linen fabric collection, launching this summer, also has great inbuilt light fastness – strong light conditions can cause fading so it’s something to consider if your sofa will be in a particularly bright spot.
 

What else do the brand create?

We make sofa beds, beds, storage beds, chairs, chaise lounges, footstools and upholstered storage boxes. All these products have the option to ‘Make It Yours’.
 

Which sofa styles are most popular right now? 

Our Ottilie and Earl Grey sofas, in straight three-seat and larger corner versions, are the most popular. Our bestselling bed is our new Alice design. Pink and blue velvet are the most popular fabric choices, in a variety of shades.
 

Which of your sofas work if you want something trend-led that won’t date?

Ottilie is the perfect sofa, there is a reason it’s the most popular. It’s very comfortable thanks to the feather-wrapped upholstery and has all the luxury of a full feather seat and back, without the constant plumping. The frame is thin, elegant and classic – and because of its simplicity, the fabric has a strong impact on the final aesthetic. In Mohair Velvet, Ottilie looks vintage, and looks great alongside reclaimed and antique furniture. In contrast, upholstered in linen, it has a clean and contemporary look.
 

How should you incorporate a sofa into the rest of the room?

Don’t be afraid to go big – it’s a misconception that small furniture creates a feeling of space. Think about the journey through your space, and how it’s punctuated; you need moments of interest. Use the sofa to divide the space and, if you have room, bring it slightly away from the wall; it will make the space feel more intimate.
 

Are there any styling rules you stand by?

After I’ve created an overall look or story for the space, I like to work on levels either tonally or texturally using the sofa as the mid tone or texture. Keep the palette simple, but always have one thing that’s slightly wrong. Ideally the sofa should be where you layer your most loved possessions; a heavily embroidered cushion or beloved block print throw.
 

How can you make a statement with your sofa?

A bold fabric will always make your sofa stand out – Mohair Velvet is great, it feels incredible and the longer pile fabrics reflect light, giving a luminous quality. We often use a fabric from the opposite end of the colour spectrum to the wall colour. This isn’t as scary as it sounds if you continue working tonally. Examples of this are teal blue and soft pink or dusty coral and green. Farrow & Ball Down Pipe – a dark lead grey with blue undertones – and mustard velvet has become very popular choice.
 

Talk us through how to position a sofa?

Position is important. Choose your focus – be it reading, studying a beautiful view, enjoying the warmth of an open fire, or watching television. People often obsess over floor space and push the furniture to the edges of the room, but pulling the sofa away from the wall creates a feeling of luxury. A rug is really important too – it will help tie together the individual elements of the space, chair, sofa and footstool, and help them to become one.
 

Millennial pink sofas and chairs are all the rage right now. Will they still be for a while?

Pink has always been popular in interiors, although as the past 15 years have been flooded by grey, the new resurgence of colour has come as a shock. But let’s not forget how shocking a grey sofa once was! There’s one overriding rule, when buying anything for your home, buy what you love. These choices stay with you as part of the narrative of your home. During my time in the industry, I’ve noticed the most successful homes are not only practical but also a true representation of the owner. So if you love it, buy it.
 

We love sofas outside of the living room – any tips for making it work?

Sofas can work really well in hallways and, if space allows, at the end of a bed. In these smaller rooms it’s important to choose a design with higher legs – an unbroken view of the floor underneath the sofa will make the space feel more open.
