8 Places To Book For Fun Boozy Sundays

Why should Friday and Saturday nights have all the fun? While we’re all for a hungover brunch come Sunday morning, we also love the idea of transforming sacred Sundays into an event in itself. Not convinced? These eight hotspots have an array of deals to lead you astray. Just don’t blame us if you’re hungover on Monday morning…

Bob Bob Ricard

Back at the start of the year, Soho hotspot Bob Bob Ricard launched its off-peak pricing system (where, as per hotels and flights, food served during quieter times is discounted). Happily, this extends to Sunday evenings, where the team serves its delicious French-style roast: slow-roasted topside of Aberdeenshire beef; roast Agria potatoes triple-cooked in veal stock, duck fat and butter; maple syrup-glazed Heritage carrots and parsnips; cave-aged Dorset cheddar cauliflower cheese; and twice-baked Yorkshire pudding, all paired with champagne. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available – as is extra champers via the famous ‘Press For Champagne’ button.

Aster

Nordic-French inspired restaurant Aster has launched a Sunday brunch in partnership with Absolut Elyxa. Chef-Patron Helena Puolakka, originally from the south-west coast of Finland, has created a Scandinavian menu which offers guests a two-or three-course brunch (dishes include a dozen Wiltshire crayfish with toasted sourdough, butter and dill; crayfish Caesar salad; eggs Florentine on sweet rye; and steak tartare), and free-flowing Cotes de Provence rosé or bubbles. For dessert, diners can choose from the likes of Nordic mess with kefir mouse, berries, meringue and strawberry coulis; and Absolut sorbet cocktails. Perfect for the summer months.

Duddell’s

From Sunday 5th August, Duddell’s will bring one of Hong Kong’s most iconic brunches to the capital with the launch of a new free-flowing monthly brunch on the first Sunday of every month. Guests will be able to book into the restaurant for two-hours of unlimited dim sum, authentic Cantonese dishes, and indulgent desserts alongside free-flowing Perrier Jouët Grand Brut, cocktails, wine or beer. Going beyond most other bottomless brunches, guests will be able to fill up on as many dishes as they can manage, either sticking to firm favourites or experimenting with new selections. The crispy char siu bun is a must-try.

Kettner’s Townhouse

After years of renovations, legendary Soho landmark Kettner’s finally reopened its doors at the start of the year. Now part of the Soho House Group, the townhouse – which dates back to 1867 – has been given the full Ned works: opulent furnishings, metallic detailing and a razzmatazz nod to the 1920s. On Sundays, the French-leaning menu goes heavy on the crowd-pleasing classics – think steak tartare with artichoke crisps, plaice goujons with frites and tartare sauce, and poached Banham chicken with cabbage, carrot and radish, while beef wellington and salmon en croute are served from silver trolleys. Both bars at Kettner’s are beautiful, so we recommend arriving early for a pre-lunch drink, or lingering until it shuts at 1am.

Quaglino’s

Let’s be honest – who on earth wants to tuck into a traditional Sunday roast in this weather? Thankfully Quaglino’s knows what’s up, and has revamped its Soul Sunday Lunch offering to include a sharing seafood option, rather than a slow-cooked meat feast. Each weekend, the restaurant hosts soulful live music accompanied by Sunday sharing lunch: new hits include the likes of stone bass papillote served with mussels mariniere; prawns and garlic butter; and devilled oysters. The best bit? There’s bottomless white or rosé wine.

Ace Hotel London Shoreditch

Ace Hotel London Shoreditch has launched its ‘Local Legends’ night on the last Sunday of every month. The events will see the hotel collaborate with some of Ace’s closest and most talented friends in the drinks industry. Taking place from 7-10pm, a special guest (or guests) will deliver a one-time-only cocktail and will act as the hosts for a fun boozy gathering in the recently revamped Lobby Bar. The first event featured the guys from Haggerston hotspot Three Sheets, who served up the ‘Almond Palmer’ – almond milk-washed, breakfast tea-infused Grey Goose
with almond and soda – so we’re expecting great things for its future collabs.
