An Espresso Martini Festival Is Coming To London

Here at SheerLuxe, we’re self-confessed espresso martini lovers – that rich mix of vodka, coffee liqueur and espresso really is the best addition to any cocktail party. So it comes as no surprise that a festival dedicated to our favourite coffee drink is making its way to London this month.

Now in its second year, the Mr. Black Espresso Martini Festival will be hitting the capital from 16th - 19th August, providing city dwellers with that caffeine hit they crave. Hosted over four days, those looking to get their caffeine fix can visit the official pop-up at trendy East London venue The Old Truman Brewery – and set your alarms, as the first 1000 visitors to the festival will receive an espresso martini absolutely free. What’s more, throughout the duration of the event – which is in partnership with Drink Up London (the team behind London Cocktail Week) – you’ll also be able to visit 100 of the top cocktail bars across the city to get your hands on their interpretation of the drink for just £6 when you flash your festival pass.

Coffee lovers who can’t face the thought of a cup of joe without a side of bottomless brunch can purchase tickets to the Bondi Brunch on Sunday 19th August, which will see hungry patrons scoff on a truckload of tasty seafood from Wright Brothers whilst sipping on espresso martinis and other glorious coffee-filled libations. And those who like something a little sweeter with their coffee cocktail can attend Mr Black’s doughnut decorating station – coffee and doughnuts, what’s more traditional than that?

Those looking to brush up on their coffee knowledge can attend a number of fun workshops over the course of the weekend. Discover just how versatile the humble espresso martini can actually be in the Coffee, Sugar (Cane) and Cocktails masterclass, where you’ll delve into the delectable world of rum and coffee cocktails. If cognac is more your thing, the experts at Courvoisier will be chatting all things Parisian coffee culture. Elsewhere, take some time to visit London’s first dedicated Cold Brew pop-up bar, or take an Espresso Art-ini masterclass.

Tom Baker, Founder of My Black, said: “Our 2017 festival went off! Watching groups of coffee loving humans walking from bar to bar in London quaffing some of the world’s finest Espresso Martinis was really humbling and we’re excited to do it all again this year.

“2018 will be bigger, better and boozier with over 100 bars taking part and the launch of our Church of Coffee. We’ve secured a dedicated space in The Old Truman Brewery which we’ll bring together all things booze and coffee culture together under one roof for a big caffeinated party.”
