Wondering how to spend your precious two days off? Let SheerLuxe be your guide in our What To Do This Weekend round-up…

HEAD TO AN URBAN MARKET HERE: Sample

This Saturday, Greenwich Peninsular will welcome pop-up market Sample for its autumn edition, following its successful Urban Fete over the summer. Showcasing the best of the season, the food and fresh ingredients market will be joined by vendors celebrating fashion, beauty, art, design and homewares. Alongside tasty lunch options – we’re tempted by the vegan treats at The Green Grill – there will be two two-hour workshops at 12pm and 3pm, where visitors can learn how to linocut onto bamboo silk.

ENJOY A FINAL SUMMER BBQ HERE: Giant Steps

Hackney newcomer Giant Steps is seeing summer off in style with a one-off weekender in collaboration with chef Tim Spedding, formerly of foodie hotspots The Clove Club and Coombeshead Farm. Focusing on barbecue, Tim and his partner Louise Røedkjaer will be serving up the likes of sourdough flatbreads with olive oil; grilled squid with hot and sour sauce; whole Cornish mackerel and roasted tomatoes; and Dexter onglet with fried peppers and green sauce.

CHECK OUT THE LATEST KERB INCARNATION HERE: Kerb Peckham

The busy folk behind street-food markets Kerb have launched not one, but two new sites this summer. First up was Hornsey Town Hall last weekend, and this Saturday it’s the turn of Peckham Rye. Part of a new venture named Kerb X, the projects focus on supporting and showcasing local talent and produce – at Peckham, the multi-venue market will also incorporate Peckham Springs, Brick Brewery and Little Bird Gin, which are already set up in the same set of arches by the station. We can’t wait to see what the new vendors will be offering up.

KEEP COOL HERE: Swingers West End

Swingers West End and Hackney Gelato have teamed up to serve a range of ice-cream milkshakes at the West End venue. An ideal sweet treat to go alongside a round of crazy golf, the menu features an array of dishes, including the Caramel Pop (a salted caramel shake topped with double-butter toffee popcorn) and Choco o’ Oreo (chocolate and vanilla shake blended with Oreo cookies and topped with whipped cream). The best bit? All milkshakes are also available as hardshakes: guests can add a shot of whisky or rum to the mix for an extra £2 (and an extra kick).

SIP A COCKTAIL IN STYLE HERE: Neptune

One of the most anticipated restaurant launches of the year, Neptune opened this year at the newly-refurbished Principal London hotel in May. But it’s not just seafood the hip hotspot is serving up, they’re now making waves for their inventive cocktail menu, served in their very Instagrammable bar – we wouldn’t expect anything less from the party gurus behind Alexa Chung’s favourite watering hole, The (now closed) Richmond in Hackney. We’d highly recommend the ‘Nepotism’ – a classic English gin sour-meets-Mexican mescal heat, or the sunshine-in-a-glass ‘Monolith’: tequila, dry sherry, tomato water, lime, clam juice, olive and salt. The wine list is well worth a try too – think unusual flavours, unique textures and plenty of tipple-of-the-moment, orange wine.
