The Luxe List: September

The SL team shares a selection of their new favourite things. From the fashion team’s new launch of choice to the latest beauty must-have, our monthly Luxe List offers all the inspiration you need...

Yaitte

BRAND: Yaitte

Call it the resurgence of 90s fashion or maybe it’s the popularity of the borrowed-from-the-boys look; either way, oversized shirts are hot property right now. Yaitte is the cool London label putting a tongue-in-cheek spin on the look; candy-striped, boxy styles are reminiscent of seaside paraphernalia and your dad’s off-duty wardrobe. Size up and pair with copious amounts of gold jewellery.

Department store Selfridges has launched Project Earth, an initiative where shoppers can experience new ways to shop which help close the loop on waste. Customers can borrow a designer outfit with rental pop-up Hurr Collective; sell and source pre-loved items via leading pre-owned luxury fashion marketplace Vestiaire Collective; refill their favourite beauty products – from Gucci to Le Labo – to save on single-use plastic; and repair a well-loved and well-worn accessory at its new Repairs Concierge.

COOKBOOK: Ottolenghi Flavour

In this new cookbook, Yotam Ottolenghi and co-writer Ixta Belfrage combine simple recipes for weeknights, as well as low-effort high-impact dishes and standout meals for relaxed cooks. The book is broken down into three parts, which reveal how to tap into the potential of ordinary vegetables to create extraordinary food. Expect dishes such as aubergine dumplings alla parmigiana; hasselback beetroot with lime leaf butter; miso butter onions; and spicy mushroom lasagne.

SCENT: Frederic Malle Incense

Frederic Malle’s stylish new rubber incenses are a modern interpretation of the traditional scented sachet, made of fragrance-infused EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), an innovative mix of plastic and rubber. The scents each last for six months, and are thin enough to fit between clothes or under a car seat, adding a lovely scent of Jurassic flower or wild rose bushes to any interior.

INTERIORS: The Table Edit

The Table Edit is an event styling service and online shop offering a curated selection of responsibly sourced tableware. The team – based in Hackney – scours the world to find its edit of homeware for customers to buy or hire, all of which are sourced second hand, designed in house or handmade by local artisans. Of the current collection, we love the silver-plated shell napkin holders and pretty pink ringed glass tumblers.

RENTAL: Ganni x Levi

Ganni has long been sustainably minded, and a new collab with Levi proves its efforts aren’t letting up. The two fashion powerhouses have joined forces to create a unique capsule collection of denim pieces made from 100% upcycled, vintage jeans, all with Ganni’s signature spin – think big collars and mismatched colours. In another break with tradition, the collection is only available to rent – simply reserve online and return one or three weeks later.

THEATRE: Talking Heads

During April and May, while the Bridge Theatre was closed, the team worked with the BBC to produce Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads monologues, which were broadcast in June. Now, nine of them are set to hit the stage in a series of double bills, all with the same actors whose performances were acclaimed on television – think Leslie Manville, Imelda Staunton and Kristen Scott-Thomas. The live performances will take place between 7th September-24th October.
