ALBUM: Anna Calvi, Hunter

“I believe in the female protagonist, who isn’t simply responding to a man’s story,” says Anna Calvi of her long-awaited third album, Hunter. We’ve been playing lead single ‘Don’t Beat The Girl Out Of My Boy’ all summer: expect noir vocals and superlative guitar playing.

FRAGRANCE: Terre d'Hermès Intense Vetiver

The entire office are truly besotted with Herme’s new Terre d’Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver. A true fragrance journey, what begins as an electric citrus quickly dissipates into a warm, spicy scent that lingers on the skin. It's musky, masculine, yet refreshing and fruity all the same. It’s taken the top spot from our beauty ed’s go-to Diptique Eau des Sens.

MUSE: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley For PORTER

From the Victoria's Secret runway to M&S campaigns, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is something of a sex symbol, but this month she's proving her credentials in more unlikely circumstances. Gracing the front cover of digital magazine Porter in oversized tailoring, mannish layers and crisp, fuss-free separates, she brings an unexpected femininity to this season's most androgynous trends. Proof you don't have to be in underwear to bring that sex appeal.

BEAUTY PRODUCT: Charlotte Tilbury Genius Magic Powder

When Charlotte Tilbury announces a new launch, we listen. And her latest launch is sweeping away all those outdated associations with face powder (you’re not a fan, or have never tried it, this is the product to convert you). The talc-free formula is so finely milled it feels like silk, and is packed with light-diffusing mica and smoothing amino acids – simply sweep atop your concealer, foundation or BB cream to both set your base and transform your complexion. Seriously: it gives a matte-yet-lit from within finish; blurs fine lines; brightens under-eye shadows; and makes mores vanish in an instant.

TREAT: Afternoon Tea at Hide

Acclaimed chef Ollie Dabbous has turned afternoon tea on its head at his new Piccadilly restaurant Hide. Expect decadent dishes such as white asparagus cream with smoked egg yolk, truffle and croutons, served in eggshells on a bed of feathers; and candy floss with wild herbs. Meanwhile, a choice of 15 Mariage Frères teas is served in art deco hand-blown teapots.

STORE: Sezane’s L'Appartment Londres

With Maje, Sandro et al practically on every street corner these days, it's evident Gallic style has firmly infiltrated the Brit shopping scene. And now further confirmation comes in the form of Sezane's official UK flagship, opening this week in Notting Hill. Fans of the brand will know it's more understated than its glamorous contemporaries, prioritising the more boho, relaxed side of French fashion, which means style purists will inevitably flock. Plus, with more affordable price points too, it's set to be the Parisian label we'll all be wearing from now on.

Opening this month at 233 Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill, London W11 2SE

PODCAST: Read Like A Writer

One for literary fans looking for new book recommendations, this new podcast – from independent publishers  Faber & Faber, Serpent’s Tail and Canongate – gives listeners a glimpse into the minds of their favourite writers. Host Anna Fielding, Stylist magazine’s Associate Editor, picks guest stars’ brains about their favourite books and bookshops, and the role reading has played in their lives. There’s only one part out so far – featuring author Matt Haig (Reasons to Stay Alive, Notes on a Nervous Planet), but new episodes will air fortnightly, with the next on 5th September. Sarah Perry (The Essex Serpent) and Gina Miller (Rise) are also due to feature.

COLLABORATION: Habitat X Shrimps

Renowned for its beaded handbags, quirky doodle designs and colourful faux fur pieces, Shrimps is the luxury brand that counts Alexa Chung, Laura Bailey and Leandra Medine as fans. And now you can bring a dose of the label's unique style to your home, with a just-launched collab with high street label Habitat. The homeware store has a strong pedigree of cool partnerships (most recently designs for the brand by Laura Jackson and Alice Levine sold out on day one) so we recommend snapping up these affordable pink statement accessories pronto.

BOOK: Normal People By Sally Rooney

She published her first novel Conversations with Friends at just 26 to critical acclaim. Two years on and Sally Rooney’s Normal People is already winning fans in the likes of Pandora Sykes and stellar reviews from the Guardian and Independent – it’s no wonder the book’s also been long listed for this year’s Man Booker prize. A love story with cynicism and human relationships at its core, this is one book that will stay with you for quite some time.

Out now in hardback, paperback, Kindle Edition and audiobook from Amazon.co.uk

BRAND: Les Reveries

Net-a-Porter has long been known for supporting emerging designer talent, and now the retail behemoth is taking this to the next level with the creation of an accelerator scheme. Named The Vanguard, designers chosen to join the incubator will get unprecedented access to marketing and business mentorship from within the company, along with extra promotion from the brand - no wonder we've seen Les Reveries, one of the earliest participants, everywhere in recent weeks. With feminine floral dresses and juxtaposing hoodies on the agenda, it's the refreshing New York label you won't be able to avoid – and trust us, that's no bad thing.
