Quick Fire Fashion: Jen Wonders

Jen Azoulay isn’t your average Instagrammer. A one-time stylist for ELLE in her native France, she also acted as Visual Director for Dior for 6 years, before launching her own consultancy company, advising top fashion brands on their visual strategy. Her 50k-strong Instagram following is just by-the-by, which makes her a must-follow in our books. We sat down with the Parisian-cum-Cali-girl to get all her insider industry knowledge…

My aesthetic is... Minimalist, edgy and cool.

My top piece of fashion advice is... To ignore the trends and wear what fits your body.

I live in... Jeans and a blazer. Every woman needs one great blazer in their wardrobe.

Moving to LA has... Had an impact on my style – I wear much more colour now I live here.

French girls know... Not to show too much skin; that’s a lesson we can all learn from them.

My fall must-have is... My Balenciaga tweed boots.

The last thing I bought was... A vintage Saint Laurent Jumpsuit.

The brands I'm loving right now are... Nanushka and Ganni, but for something affordable, you can’t beat Zara.

My style icons are... Surprisingly classic. I always look to Audrey Hepburn and Victoria Beckham.

The best thing about working for a magazine... Is the access to all the fabulous clothes!

I learnt a lot from my time at Elle... But my biggest take away was that you have to work harder than everyone else if you want to make it in this business.

If you want to break into the fashion industry... You need to start as an intern helping stylists, photographers – everyone. If you’re good at it, jobs will come.
