The Canary Wharf Christmas Shopping Event To Mark In Your Calendar

In need of some gifting inspiration this Christmas? Mark your calendars with Canary Wharf’s Winter Fashion Weekend. Taking place Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd December, visitors to the area's shopping centres can enjoy daily inspiration from live catwalk shows, plus special shopping events and discounts.

From Aspinal to Coach, Tiffany to Whistles, this isn’t your average high street – the five combined malls feature 120 of your favourite brands across fashion, beauty and more. Shoppers can winterproof their workout kit with 25% off at Sweaty Betty; indulge in French label Maje (exclusions apply), invest in statement jewellery from Monica Vinader, or purchase their perfect shade of red lipstick from Bobbi Brown – all offering 20% off. There’ll also be a selection of catwalk shows highlighting the key trends of the season, from slip midis to satin, kimono-style dresses to colour-pop blouses.

But it’s not just about fashion. Canary Wharf is taking a holistic approach to seasonal dressing and has teamed up with celebrity make-up artist Caroline Barnes to offer expert advice on how to complement the standout trends with make-up looks, including the most coveted and perhaps tricky to master: the bold red lip. A dedicated red lip pop-up in Jubilee Place, lower mall will feature a carefully curated edit of the full spectrum of the shade, drawn from the world’s very best beauty houses all in one space; that means Bobbi Brown, MAC, Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder, as well as top picks from Space NK like Laura Mercier, Chantecaille, Lipstick Queen and many more. Finding the winning formula will be made easy with personal, one-to-one ‘lip service’ consultations from make-up artists who will be on hand across the weekend to advise on the best shade of red for every shopper. Plus, Caroline will be making a special appearance at Canary Wharf on Saturday 1st December between 11am and 3pm to help those in their quest for the right swipe of scarlet.

Want some exclusive advice in advance? Caroline shared with us her top tips for pulling off the look:

A red with a slight pinky tone is softer against pale skin, so if you want something that isn’t too contrasting, this would be your best solution. If you want a contrast, the opt for a true red or a blue toned red – just avoid reds that contain too much brown.

      • Olive or warmer skin tones should avoid pinky reds as they won’t appear striking enough. Warmer skin tones suit orange-based reds. The darker your skin the more vibrant, deeper pigments work best.

      • Prep your lips first so you get a smooth, even finish. Use a sugar scrub, flannel or liquid AHA lightly over your lips to release the dry skin, then apply a balm.

      • Remove the excess balm so the lipstick adheres to the lip and doesn’t slip around your mouth.

      • Apply your chosen hue with a lip brush first, then fill in with the bullet. This helps the pigment really bed into your lips.

      • Blot with a tissue then reapply and remove the excess lipstick away from your lip line, so it doesn’t travel.

      • For touch-ups, keep a hydrating red lipstick in your bag of a similar shade to ensure your lips don’t become dry throughout the day.

      • Top tip: Add gloss to your lipstick to change up the texture or pat in a matte red eyeshadow to make your favourite lipstick matte.
