GET SLEUTHING HERE: Agatha Christie Pop-Up 

Seven Dials will celebrate 90 years of Agatha Christie’s iconic novel The Seven Dials Mystery on 24th January. In celebration of the famous story, there’ll be a secret book trail, where shoppers are invited to discover one of 90 books hidden within the area to pick up and keep for free. Tredwells, Marcus Wareing’s restaurant which is named after the treasured butler in Christie’s 1929 novel, will also pay tribute by creating a three-course meal and a special cocktail for £29, available from 24th January. Elsewhere, The Escapologist is offering 50% off your first round of drinks to people who quote 'Agatha Christie' at the bar, and Creoate will host ‘Celebrating Women Writers: A Discussion on Modern Journalism’, an engaging conversation with panellists Caroline Rowland, Kristen Byass, Melissa Zahorujko and Ashley Horn, who’ll talk about what it takes to produce their content from very different perspectives.

Benefit Cosmetics has launched a pop-up wing bar – Just Wing It – to celebrate its newest product, the Roller Liner. The new liquid matte eyeliner promises a perfect long-lasting winged look, so the brand is offerings guests the chance to enjoy a double whammy of wings with a dedicated pop-up shop for foodie fashionistas. With food served up by fried chicken purveyors Mother Clucker, guests can order wings and undergo a demo of the eyeliner that claims not to smudge. WATCH A PREMIERE HERE: Bulgari Hotel London 

Bulgari Hotel London has announced the full line-up for its ‘Breakthrough Women in Film’ series. Over the next few months, the Knightsbridge hotel's cinema will host film screenings championing young female filmmakers and female-driven storylines, followed by a live Q&A session with the director, or leading member of the film’s cast. This Friday sees a screening of the Bafta-nominated Only You. The debut feature from Harry Wootliff Only You sees Laia Costa and Josh O’Connor play a couple who, after a one-night stand on New Year’s Eve, fall madly in love. Within weeks they are living together, and not long after they begin trying for a child. When conception isn’t immediate, pressure builds on the pair and the idea of a family begins to overshadow their relationship.

BEAT SKI SEASON BLUES HERE: Chel-Ski 

For those unable to escape to the mountains for some skiing this winter, Chel-Ski, London’s largest indoor ski slope, is collaborating with Bluebird Chelsea to transform its terrace and winter lodges into an alpine wonderland. The terrace will be decorated with old fashioned wooden skis and sledges, vintage posters and fur cushions, while a special alpine menu of fondues with baby sausages, roast potatoes, cornichons and grilled bread; veal and pork meatballs with a spiced tomato sauce and melted cheese; chicken schnitzel rolls with tomato and chilli jam; and apple pie will be served to create an après vibe. There will also be a number of cocktails including ‘Come In From The Cold’ with Ketel One, Ancho Reyes chilli liqueur, lime and ginger; and ‘Whiteout’, a classic Ketel One martini with either a twist or olive.

GET THROUGH THE REST OF DRY JANUARY HERE: Coral Room 

Celebrity hotspot The Coral Room is collaborating with non-alcoholic spirit Seedlip for an exclusive ‘Dry January’ cocktail menu. Health-conscious cocktail lovers and Dry January participants are invited to explore the bespoke menu, which includes ‘Seeing In The Dark’: Seedlip Spice 94, rhubarb and cardamom syrup, freshly squeezed carrot juice and chia seeds; ‘Living Coral Cocktail’: Seedlip Spice 108, pomelo and pink pepper tonic, cactus water and seaweed; ‘Bitter Sweet Grove’: Seedlip Grove 42, bitter orange and elderflower tonic and coconut oil; and ‘Gimlet 94’: Seedlip 94, fennel seeds, blackcurrant leaf syrup, and apple acid. Much better than a lime and soda.

OR TRY A DIFFERENT ‘DRY’ JAN HERE: The Bloomsbury Club 

The Bloomsbury Club Bar has a very different twist on ‘Dry January’ – a cocktail menu featuring a variety of dry spirits. The new cocktail list offers dry twists on modern classics including: a ‘Dry White Negroni’ known as 'The Refresher' made with Lillet Blanc, Suze, riesling, orange bitters and a slice of orange; ‘Dry Coffee Cocktail’ known as 'The Rebuilder' made up of Amaro Montenegro and Angostura orange bitters; and finally the ‘Dry Adonis’, a martini with a dry twist: Lustau Red Vermut infused with berries, Oloroso sherry, and Angostura orange bitters, stirred and finished off with fresh orange peel. A selection of dry wines will also be available from the bar’s extensive wine list, and the drinks on this limited-edition menu will be served with a 20% discount for the duration of the month.

BOOK THIS: Hanna Moon & Joyce Ng: English as a Second Language 

Employing an otherworldly and playful approach to their practice, Hanna Moon and Joyce Ng incorporate cultural signifiers, set design and fashion to present their unique take on Western aesthetics and fashion ideals. Bringing distinct Asian perspectives to their work, they challenge the concept of ‘otherness’ and reflect upon the power fashion photography holds in shaping our perceptions of beauty, style and taste. For English as a Second Language Moon and Ng have created two new series of photography works, responding directly to the historical setting of Somerset House. The exhibition also invites you to explore works from Moon and Ng’s fashion photography archive from the past four years, featuring work from leading publications such as Dazed, i-D, Centrefold and Re-Edition.

TRY VAMPIRE YOGA HERE: Lost Boys Pizza 

January has become synonymous with detox and rejuvenation. This Sunday, Lost Boys Pizza is offering something a little different, inviting all those who dare to cleanse their souls at a provocative and spiritual session of ‘vampire yoga’. CELEBRATE AUSTRALIA DAY HERE: Milk Beach 

Australia Day celebrations will be running from morning until late all weekend long at Milk Beach in Queen’s Park. Head chef Chris Munnings (formerly Duck & Waffle Local) has devised a selection of menu items with his take on some signature Australian dishes, including ‘shrimp on the inductions’ (grilled prawns with sesame glaze); slow-roasted lamb shoulder with rosemary, lemon, garlic and chilli with charred onion and potatoes; and kiwi and papaya pavlova. As night falls, partygoers can get into the true spirit of Australia Day with the countdown of the Hottest 100 streamed from Australia’s national radio station, Triple J. Tickets are now on sale for ‘Quo Vadis & Lovers: St Leonards’, a special Valentine’s supper club as part of the Quo Vadis & Friends series, taking place on 14th February. The supper, cooked up by the team behind hot Shoreditch restaurant St Leonards, will be served family-style and (largely) cliché-free, unfolding a feast of sybaritic pleasure for beloved guests, whether they arrive solo, coupled or in a gang. CELEBRATION BURNS NIGHT HERE: The Marksman 

Hackney’s Michelin-starred pub The Marksman has a rich tradition of hosting Burns Night, and this year is no different. Begin with a glass of scotch at the bar, and a night of Scottish feasting will ensue. One of the very few establishments in London to make its own haggis, the team will also be serving up a vegan haggis (which some in the kitchen agree tastes better than the real thing). Groups of up to 12 can take over the subterranean Cellar Room, a private dining room-cum-chef’s table with direct access to the kitchen. The three-course set menu costs £35 and includes curried mussels on toast; haggis, neeps and tatties; and cranachan.

FINISH ‘VEGANUARY’ IN STYLE HERE: Radio Alice

This month Bologna-originated Radio Alice has created a one-off vegan pizza with cookbook author Alexandra Dudley to celebrate ‘Veganuary’. Brothers Matteo and Salvatore Aloe have included a vegan pizza on the menu since they opened Radio Alice in Hoxton in 2016, regularly changing the toppings to run with the season. Now they’ve teamed up with Alexandra, whose creation uses Matteo’s sourdough base (which is fermented for 24 hours), before being topped with onion, squash, charred broccoli, pickled onions, tarragon and cashew pesto and piquant chillies. Trust us, it’s delicious.

After the success of last year’s yoga sessions, Tate Modern is re-collaborating with FRAME to host a morning ‘Yin’ yoga class, followed by a healthy brunch. The class will take place in Tate Modern’s East Room which has floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing natural lighting to fill the space, plus views of St Pauls and the Thames. After the session, yogis can head down to the Kitchen and Bar Restaurant for a healthy brunch spread including organic bircher muesli and rejuvenating smoothies and shakes. There will be several choices for main brunch options to help guests refuel, such as crepes with crème fraiche and maple syrup or a fresh fruit and quinoa salad.
