Inspired by the preferred jeans shape of stylish fashion editors, the new design from the high street behemoth has all the tropes of contemporary denim: a high-waisted fit, straight leg cut, ankle-grazing hem and original rigid denim fabric. Available in three washes (grey, dark denim and light denim tick every box), there’s also a Tall fit for long-pinned girls and Petite for those after a 28” length, making it an all-round winner – and with a £49 price tag, they’re the affordable update you need.
The best bit? They go with everything. You won’t feel too androgynous in a trainer thanks to bare ankles, but their cut (more feminine than a boyfriend) looks great with a heel too. Chunky knitwear works thanks to the straight fit, but that doesn’t rule out silk blouses, slub tees or crisp shirting – basically, anything goes.
