DO A NEW ESCAPE ROOM HERE: Buckingham Palace

A Leonardo da Vinci-themed escape room has opened at The Queen’s Gallery in Buckingham Palace. Running until October, ‘Leonardo Artmergency!’ takes place among the 200 original drawings in the exhibition Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing – the largest display of da Vinci’s works in 65 years. Every Friday and Saturday evening, The Queen’s Gallery will be transformed into four rooms of puzzles and riddles, where participants are invited to think like a Renaissance genius and beat the clock to unlock the mysteries in da Vinci’s drawings to solve the mystery of the missing curator. Your team will need careful observation, creative thinking and detective work to beat the clock, but – thankfully – no prior art history knowledge is required.

STEP OUTSIDE HERE: The Pilgrm Hotel

The Pilgrm Hotel in Paddington has launched an al fresco drinking and dining spot on the front of its Victorian townhouse – just in time for summer. Open to hotel guests and visitors alike, the terrace is perched outside the first-floor cocktail lounge and seats 20 among a quaint herb garden, with which the dishes and drinks on The Pilgrm’s summer menu will be infused. We like the sound of the ‘Fig Leaf Collins’, which combines fig leaf cordial, gin and soda water and the ‘Whisky & Peach’, which blends whisky, peach and hibiscus tincture and soda. The summer menu features light, colourful dishes with well-sourced ingredients from Belazu and Brindisa such as cod-stuffed peppers; smoked aubergine with burrata and anchovies on toast.
