The Ultimate Friday Night Playlist: Jez Pereira

The Ultimate Friday Night Playlist: Jez Pereira

Ever wondered what world-famous DJs include on their Friday night party playlists? Well look no further: Jez Pereira, world class DJ for London hotspot, Annabel’s, has given us his ultimate weekend playlist for some serious music inspo…

The New

As we all know well enough, the best playlists that really get the crowds going are a mix of the old classics and the new tunes and the cool and the cheesy. In his more recent choice of songs, Jez has gone for a new remix of an old classic – a thumping dance track that samples the Kelis favourite, ‘Milkshake’. “That classic sample remixed into a high energy form brings any dance floor to life,” Jez enthuses. Another great one is no doubt a banger we’ll all recognise from now: Fisher’s ‘Losing It’, which has and incredible build-up and real raucous feel to it once the chorus kicks in. “Fisher is an Australian DJ who’s taking the world by storm right now,” says Jez. “And this track is epic!”

The Old

It’s the oldies where Jez’s eclectic tastes really come alive though. In there, you’ll find a mix of well-known bangers, such as Camelphat and Elderbrook’s ‘Cola’ and the Laolu remix of ‘Too Much Information’ by Dele Sosimi. “It’s on everyone’s playlist and for good reason, too,” Jez says of the latter. “It’s become an Ibiza anthem after Black Coffee and various other DJs gave it their full support. It’s officially a classic now.” Others have that great 80s tinge to them, such as 2001’s ‘Crying at the Discotechque’ by Alcazar, or 2016’s ‘Plage D’or’ by Jean Tonique ft Blue Platine – which also has a playful French vibe to it.

The Classics

Let’s be honest, is a Friday night party really a Friday night party if it doesn’t include ‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S? No, it’s not. Jez has fond memories attached to this song: “I remember this song being dropped in style but my musical guru, Erick Morillo – followed by a crowd dive at Space in Ibiza back in 2006! When you drop the first two bars of this classic, it’s a pure floor-filler.”
And that’s not the only retro banger in there – you can’t forget ‘Ride On Tim’ by Black Box and ‘You Don’t Know Me’ by Armand Van Helden are guaranteed to get people on their feet – and you can’t beat a bit of Bill Withers, can you?
