The Best New Beauty For September

The Best New Beauty For September

From affordable skincare to new, creamy bases, this month’s latest slew of beauty buys takes us right into Autumn. These are the products on our wish-list this month…

LIPSTICKS TO LOVE:

Nars 25: The Iconic Lipstick Collection, £22

To celebrate 25 years of the brand’s launch, NARS have dropped 60 new shades into their ‘iconic collection.’ Pigment-rich, velvety smooth and with just about every colour imaginable, you’ll have no trouble finding one you love.

HAIRCARE HEROES:

CAKE The Posh Wash Shampoo & Conditioner, £6

New brand on the block CAKE has recently come over from Canada, delivering luxe haircare that’s both vegan and cruelty free. Using essential oils, shea butter and aloe vera, this shampoo and conditioner left our hair feeling silky soft and with just the right amount of bounce, too. They also work to exfoliate the scalp and fend off dirt and pollutants with moringa seed micro-protein – so you effectively get a 2-in-1 treatment.

Neighbourhood Botanicals Dry Shampoo (launching mid-September)

The blend of tapioca starch and nourishing minerals in this natural dry shampoo work to suck up any oil or grime in greasy hair, while botanicals help to maintain moisture and extend the life of your blow-dry, or any style generally. Just a small amount rubbed into the roots and throughout the middle of your strands will add soft texture without any heavy, white residue. Another bonus? It’s free from baking soda (unlike some dry shampoos) which has a very high pH and is harsh on the scalp.

SUITS-ALL SKIN & BODYCARE:

Tandem Cleansing Hero (launching 12th September)

Created by Sophie and Sam Hinchcliffe (who also own popular brand Sister & Co), Tandem is a new line of hard-working, streamlined skincare that works in ‘tandem’ with the environment – no waste, vegan, cruelty-free and only using sustainably sourced ingredients. Our favourite from the range? This oily cleanser that gently dissolves even the most stubborn make-up with natural botanicals and clinical pro-grade actives for a smooth, refined complexion. Another bonus is everything in the range is under £30.

CeraVe SA Smoothing Cream, £18

Possibly one of our favourite launches of 2019, this rich cream (by the brand the experts love) uses salicylic acid and lactic acid to gently exfoliate even the scaliest patches, while the ceramides work to strengthen the barrier of the skin, locking in serious moisture at the same time. We noticed red bumps on the back of our arms faded within just two days of use, while the snaky texture on our shins also smoothed out. Impressive to say the least. You can use it on your face, too, or any areas that are suffering from flaking, dryness or irritation.

& Other Stories Avant-Garde Air Body Souffle, £11

If you’re after a fragrant body buy, look no further than & Other Stories new skin-softening soufflé. Loaded with mandarin, peach and patchouli, the smell is warm and feminine and stays on your limbs all day long. As for the whipped formula, it’s non-greasy and sinks in within seconds for a quick hit of moisture.

BEST IN BLUSH:

Nudestix Nudies Bloom All-Over Dewy Face Colour, £30

If you don’t like using your fingers to apply make-up, this blush stick comes with a convenient brush on the other end. Uncap it and dab the colour onto your skin before buffing it in with the soft bristles for a finish that’s dewy and fresh. Keep in mind, a little goes a long way when you use this.

Available at CultBeauty.co.uk

Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Chouchette, £46

Infused with vitis vita grape extract and ayurvedic oils, this creamy formula promotes collagen production while hyaluronic acid adds extra moisture to the skin. The blush goes on sheer at first, but it’s super easy to build up to a natural or bold-looking flush.

FACE PERFECTING BASES:

Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Concealer, £7

Available in 50 suits-all shades, Revolution’s thick perfector sets the standard for what a full-coverage concealer should be. The chunky wand applicator also makes it easy to hide dark circles, hyperpigmentation and any imperfections on the skin, but the formula is moveable enough to sheer out and wear all over the face should you want to. An absolute steal at just £7, too, given how much you get and how long-lasting the formula is.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Natural Skin Perfector, £35

Fans of Laura Mercier’s original tinted moisturiser, rejoice! It’s had quite the makeover this autumn and we’re here for it. Laura Mercier herself wanted to recreate the formula to cater to medium and darker skin tones with a higher SPF level, too. The base was also tweaked by the addition of moisturising oils, while both parabens and silicones were removed. The result? A hydrating, glossy finish that enhances the skin immediately with candlelit coverage. And it blends seamlessly meaning you can use a brush or your fingers to layer it on. Finally, the shades are exact, so whichever you choose, you can be sure it’ll be the perfect match.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation, £34

Due to the hype, we didn’t want to like this as much as we do, but we can’t deny the ‘soft focus’ coverage this gives the skin. Heavier than previous Charlotte Tilbury offerings - but never suffocating - it provides a great amount of pigment, as well as unbeatable luminosity that looks fresh and breathable. Available in 44 shades, the formula has been designed to match both undertones and overtones, so finding your go-to colour couldn’t be easier.

Erborian CC Dull Correct, £17

Erborian’s new CC crème is set to be a best-seller, as the lightweight, shade-matching formula does it all when it comes to evening out the complexion. Using violet to cancel out dull, yellow tones, it fades dark patches and smooths uneven hyperpigmentation, as well as generally just giving skin a healthier glow. Can easily be used sans foundation, too, if you’re having a day off from full-face make-up.

BROW MUST-HAVE:

Fenty Beauty Brow MPV Collection, £17

The latest additions to Fenty’s range are these covetable, waterproof brow pencils. Available in 14 shades, there is one for every need – be it strawberry blonde, ash brown or the darkest black. Dual-ended, one side is a retractable pencil that’s brilliant for drawing in fake hairs, while the other end is a unique paddle brush, which allows for seamless blending, so you’ll never end up with dull patches around the skin of the brows either.

HIGH STREET FRANGRANCES TO TRY:

Chloe L’Eau Fragrance, £62

If you like your perfume fresh, you’ll love Chloe’s latest launch. Laced with jasmine, oak moss and magnolia, it’s feminine without being sickly sweet. Guaranteed to leave you feeling clean and refreshed after just a few spritzes.
