“Which are the best shops for black work trousers?”

Answered by Charlotte Collins, SheerLuxe’s Fashion Editor

When it comes to smart workwear, nowhere does it quite like Reiss. Every season it has a renewed selection, but we also recommend checking out its outlet tab for unexpected bargains. Samantha Cameron’s grown-up label Cefinn also delivers on unfussy, slick suiting, while Zara is, naturally, a safe choice on a budget.

“What type of bra do larger-chested ladies wear under a camisole?”

Answered by Charlotte Collins, SheerLuxe’s Fashion Editor

Strapless bras are best with a cami. If you’ve got bigger boobs, look to trusted brands that offer great support. Bravissimo has reliable options, along with Figleaves. You’ll need a backstrap with extra fixtures (just one hook and eye won’t do) and comfortable underwiring too. For more tips on finding the right bra, check out our feature here.

“Can you recommend some comfy, stylish work shoes that aren’t trainers and won’t give me blisters, ideally from the high street?”

Answered by Charlotte Collins, SheerLuxe’s Fashion Editor

You’re after a great pair of pumps. We’re surprised to have been seduced by M&S’s teal, pointed versions – cool with contrasting autumnal shades. Alternatively, look for simple black slippers or Celine-inspired rounded pumps for a subtle, goes-with-everything feel.

“Have you got any good present ideas for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday?”

Answered by Lu Hough, SheerLuxe’s Head of Fashion and Creative, and Laura Black, SheerLuxe’s Deputy Editor

For the athlete, we recommend personalised running trainers from Nike. These Air Maxes can be customised by colour, sport and speed. Delivery takes between two and five weeks. A weekend bag is another sure-fire winner, and there are options to suit every budget. We really like this Hartsfield leather-trimmed, organic cotton-canvas holdall by Want Les Essentiels and this structured Mansur Gavriel holdall. Tech fans will appreciate a pair of Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 2.0 wireless earphones, while a foodie might enjoy a butchery masterclass at The Ginger Pig at Borough Market, or making their very own gin at The Ginstitute in Notting Hill.

“How do I really get rid of blackheads?”

Answered by Teresa Tarmey, skincare expert & facialist

Opt for a good, daily cleansing routine and stick to it. Skin loves monotony, so you’ll really notice a big difference if you keep it up. Look to products with salicylic acid, which is a great option for dissolving blackheads. It works well because it is a beta hydroxy acid and has a larger molecular size, so it stays on the surface for longer, giving better results. Once the blackheads have cleared, continue using it to prevent pores from re-clogging. The only downside of salicylic acid is it can be quite drying. Depending on your complexion type, glycolic acid could be a better option. Aside from salicylic, I personally think retinol is one of the best ways to clear clogged pores and prevent blackheads from forming altogether. Vitamin A works on the receptors in the skin to regulate cell turnover and increase the efficiency of dead skin removal, alleviating congestion. Cleanse, tone, apply any serum, use your retinol and then moisturise – that’s your go-to regime right there.

“What’s the best way to stop getting creases of make-up on your eyelids?”

Answered by Cher Webb, expert make-up artist

Lock in your eye make-up with either an oil-free primer or a water-resistant eyeshadow base. This will create a barrier and absorb any excess oil from the eyelids, while giving the eyeshadow a texture to adhere to. I carry most of the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots in my kit as they’re available in eight great shades and are so easy to blend and work with. You can also try using a matte oil-free concealer, like Bourjois’s Healthy Mix Concealer, all over the lids. This will have a similar priming effect while brightening up the entire eye area.
