To celebrate the launch of Topshop’s fourth IDOL collection, Ukrainian-born pop music duo The Bloom Twins will perform a two hour DJ set and live music performance from 6-8pm this Thursday evening at the brand's flagship store on Oxford Street. The 23-year-old identical twins have taken the fashion and music world by storm garnering over 1.4m streams on Spotify and 84,000 Instagram followers. IDOL is Topshop’s design-driven, premium offering helmed by Topshop’s design director Anthony Cuthbertson, and sees four seasonal collections launch throughout the year. The Fall 2019 capsule is defined by rich hues and textures across shearlings, leather, satins, velvets and jacquards – and goes on sale today. Vintage floral prints are given a tough edge in autumnal tones and elegant 1940s silhouettes are paired with heavy, androgynous pieces with the intention of providing full looks that transition from day to night.

Roy McBride (Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the Solar System to find his dad (Lee Jones) and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of humanity on Earth. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

HEAD TO A NEW EXHIBITION HERE: The Royal Academy of Arts
Best known for his 200-tonne Angel of the North installation near Gateshead, and his project involving 24,000 members of the public for Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth, Antony Gormley is one of the UK’s most celebrated sculptors. this weekend the RA opens his most ambitious exhibition in more than ten years, featuring work from across his 45-year career alongside major new installations created for its galleries. The show will explore Gormley’s wide-ranging use of organic, industrial and elemental materials, including iron, steel, hand-beaten lead, seawater and clay. It also brings to light rarely seen works from the 1970s and 1980s, as well as a selection of his pocket sketchbooks and drawings.

THEN EAT THE ARTWORK HERE: Rosewood London
This Saturday, Rosewood London will launch a sculpture-inspired afternoon tea to mark the Royal Academy of Arts’ new Antony Gormley exhibition. Rosewood London’s exec pastry chef Mark Perkins has taken inspiration from the exhibition’s artworks and elements of Gormley’s life to develop the collection of pastries served for the themed tea. We can’t wait to try the ‘Antony Gormley, Matrix II (2014)’, a latticed chocolate decoration on top of ginger jaconde sponge, filled with pear jelly, caramel cremeux, vanilla glaze and pear bavarois. The afternoon tea will be served in the Mirror Room, starting with a traditional selection of finger sandwiches and scones. A wide selection of Mariage Frères teas will also be available.

TRY A NEW BRUNCH HERE: Chotto Matte
Chotto Matte has launched its ‘Harajuku Heaven’ weekend brunch. Reminiscent of stepping on to Takeshita Street in the Harajuku district of Tokyo, guests enter a world of colour. A large, illuminated wishing tree takes centre stage while a team of Harajuku girls in traditional outfits brighten up the brunch. The Nikkei menu includes the likes of sushi doughnuts, seabass ceviche, vegetarian tacos, nasu miso beef tataki and sizzling beef teriyaki tobans. Soufflé pancakes will be the perfect accompaniment to the brunch’s yuzu margaritas, Nikkei Bloody Marys and gin ‘Mar-tea-nis’, all served in Kawaii teapots. Underground DJs will keep the party alive from 12-3pm.

DRINK NEGRONIS HERE: Henrietta Hotel
Henrietta Hotel and Campari are set to launch a month-long ‘Experimental Negroni Club’ to celebrate 100 years of the cocktail. Hidden away on the mezzanine, guests will enjoy an immersive light installation and a bespoke menu of cocktails. Vintage ingredients have been selected in partnership with the Old Spirit Company to recreate negronis served from the 50s to the 80s. An impressive light show will feature a pixel-mapped space suspended below the mezzanine bar’s glass ceiling, with light choreography that simulates a negroni’s ingredients to create an infinity illusion.

SEE THE SHOW OF THE YEAR HERE: Tim Walker at the V&A
Tim Walker: Wonderful Things celebrates the fashion photographer’s contribution to image-making and the inspirational role that the V&A’s collection plays in his creative process. Walker’s reference points are disparate – from fairy tales to Beatles lyrics – yet his photographs share a sensibility that is unmistakably his own. The exhibition begins with 100 pictures from Walker’s previous projects and extracts from his Super 8 films. These images are populated by some of the biggest names in fashion, including Edie Campbell, Lily Cole, Karen Elson and Stella Tennant, and designers including Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Comme des Garçons and Rick Owens. A must-visit.

TRY A NEW AFTERNOON TEA HERE: XU
XU Teahouse & Restaurant is celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival, a large East Asian festival that commemorates the start of a new harvest season. XU has collaborated with patisserie chef Lily Vanilli to produce a limited-edition ‘Bakewell Mooncake’ to be enjoyed throughout the three-week celebration. Best known for her playful cake designs and quirky flavour creations, Lily has also teamed up with XU for a Mid-Autumn afternoon tea takeover, available only on weekends. The tea comprises traditional savoury and sweet Taiwanese dishes, plus limited ‘Fool’s Gold’ chocolate truffles with sichuan and mini dried-plum celebration cakes from Lily. It will be accompanied by paired teas rarely found outside of Taiwan, such as the ‘Winter Melon Tieguanyin’ cold brew. For those looking for a little indulgence, guests can pair the afternoon tea with a Perrier-Jouët free-flow option for an additional £25pp.
