20 New Beauty Buys Under £20

20 New Beauty Buys Under £20

From supermarket skincare to affordable make-up, the latest beauty buys perform to a high standard without draining your bank balance. We’ve found 20 under £20 worth adding to your basket now…

1. Bjork & Berries Dark Rain Body Wash, £18

This body wash does it all. It deeply cleanses while the creamy texture rehydrates the skin and the gentle formula maintains the pH balance. Loaded with vitamins and antibacterials, it keeps germs and dirt at bay, while the warm, woody scent lingers on your body all day long.

Available at Cultbeauty.co.uk

2. Cien Hydro Expert Aqua Gel, £2.99

Lidl has just dropped its newest skincare range and every product is laden with hyaluronic acid. Our favourite? The silky Aqua Gel, which slips across skin thanks to its bouncy, watery consistency. It absorbs fast and leaves behind softer, supple skin straight away. The non-sticky formula also belies the affordable price tag.

Available instore at Lidl

3. Glossier Zit Stick, £12

Previously only available in the US, Glossier’s cult ZitStick has finally made its way across the pond. Unlike its American counterpart, it doesn’t contain acne-zapping benzoyl peroxide (which isn’t available in the UK without a prescription) but it does harness the powerful benefits of salicylic acid, capryloyl salicylic acid and tea tree oil – all of which are known for drying out spots and regulating oil production. While it’s not a long-term fix for severe acne sufferers, you will notice post-use your spots visibly reduced in size, as well as redness. We were pretty impressed and, if all of that doesn’t hook you in, the clever marker-pen packaging will.

4. Klorane Floral Water Make-Up Remover, £16

Klorane is known for its gentle formulas. Its latest micellar water is no exception. Not only does it remove stubborn make-up with cornflower floral water, it sweeps away dirt, pollution and excess oils, while brightening the complexion and helping skin to absorb any products that follow post-cleanse (serums, moisturisers and toners).

Available at Lookfantastic.com

5. L'Oreal Botanicals Arnica Damaged Hair Repairing Shampoo, £8

Arnica flower extract works to add smoothness and tame frizzy strands, with a clean, weightless finish that leaves hair feeling full and soft to touch. Extra brownie points for the 94% biodegradable formula and recyclable packaging. Perfect if you need a new conditioning shampoo.

6. MAC Starring You Collection, From £16

Christmas may be a while away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate some of the early beauty launches – especially when they’re this pretty. MAC has dropped its festive collection and, yes, it’s full of sparkle. We’re loving this slick, metallic shadow that adds edge to any look and is easy to smudge on for a speedy, smokey eye.

7. Max Factor Miracle Sculpting Wand Universal, £10.99

This easy-to-use wand has a creamy consistency that’s so easy to blend, making it especially good for contour novices. A little goes a long way and you can sweep it on wherever you are for extra depth and definition, without fear of looking overdone or too theatrical.

8. NARS High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner, £19

The miniscule point of these new longwear liners delivers maximum definition, while the silky formula glides seamlessly, filling in gaps between lashes for full impact. It sets fast – so don’t be hesitant in applying – and doesn’t budge either. Available in 16 suits-all shades.

9. Vichy Naturalblend Tinted Lip Balm, £8.50

Coconut oil and beeswax come together in Vichy’s new balms for a slick texture that delivers optimum hydration. The red, plum and peach tints have just enough to encourage a healthy, flushed colour on the lips. Plus, the sheeny colour lasts for hours.

10. OUAI Haircare Super Dry Shampoo, £20

Founder Jen Atkin has updated her original dry shampoo with a new formula for cool-looking hair that requires minimal effort. Lightly scented, it uses volcanic minerals to soak up excess oil and add tousled texture. Spray it on, fluff it in and you’re good to go.

Available at Cultbeauty.co.uk

11. Patchology FlashPatch Illuminating Eye Gels, £3 (for 1)

With a blend of vitamin C, green tea extract and brightening minerals, these small eye patches work as a quick fix, adding luminosity to skin. They won’t get rid of dark circles and crow’s feet altogether, but they will add a healthy glow and boost sluggish circulation. An ideal treat for those suffering with puffy or sore computer eyes.

12. Pixi Lengthy Fiber Mascara, £16

When you’re going for thick, fuller lashes, this should be top of your list. Laced with vitamin E, it keeps lashes flexible and conditioned while really bulking them up. The bigger brush reaches every part of your lashes, so you get full inkiness and definition with just a couple of swipes.

Available at Boots.com

13. Revolution Skincare 2.5% Glycolic Acid Toner, £5.33 (was £8)

High-street brand Revolution’s new skincare range is in Boots and it doesn’t disappoint. We’ve been trialling the glycolic acid toner, which gently exfoliates and removes the top layer of skin for a smooth, refined texture – not to mention a brighter glow. Even sensitive skin types can get involved thanks to the addition of ginseng and aloe vera, which counteract the harsh effects of glycolic.

Available at Boots.com

14. Rimmel Lasting Matte Primer, £7.99

Rimmel’s latest base perfector does a little bit of everything: smoothing, hydrating and controlling oil. You only need a small amount to prep your whole face for foundation and the sheer formula dries down quick, so you never need worry about piling or any product flaking off.

Available at Boots.com

15. St Tropez Tan Remover Mousse, £14.50

Struggle with tan buildup, or patches round the ankles and wrists? St Tropez’s new mousse remover is here to remedy any mistakes. Packed with cotton extract and probiotics, it softly whisks away all traces of tan without the need for vigorous rubbing. We recommend using it with a mitt for the most effective and even results.

16. Super Facialist Retinol+ Anti-Ageing Booster, £20

Retinol is hard to come by on a budget, which is why we were thrilled to see SuperFacialist’s latest launch. Using vitamin E and almond oil to soften the retinol, add this booster to your moisturiser or serum to help plump, smooth and hydrate skin. After a few weeks, you’ll feel your skin’s texture change and can start to enjoy a comforting glow.

17. Zoeva 111 Petit Face Finish, £15

If you only buy one thing off this list, make it this do-it-all brush. Densely packed bristles make it ideal for applying blusher, bronzer, foundation or highlighter – a must-have for those lacking in tools.

Available at Beautybay.com

18. Frank Body Shimmer Scrub, £13.95

Brimming with vitamin E, coffee grinds and sugar beads, a little of this shimmery scrub boosts skin’s luminosity and smoothness, making it a must-have for those with dry, scaly limbs. It leaves behind a subtle shimmer that gently catches the light – ideal for party season. Fun, ’grammable packaging is an added bonus.

Available at Lookfantastic.com

19. Clinique Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation, £17.50

With a satin matte dry down, this feels lightweight on the lips but still delivers enough pigment to make a statement. The formula doesn’t budge either, so you never get any bleeding or smudging around the lip line. Not sure which shade will suit you? A new colour matching system takes your Clinique foundation shade, then uses a colour wheel to find three perfect matches in lipstick, so all the hard work is done for you.

Available at Clinique.co.uk

20. Honest Beauty Creme Cheek Blush, £16

Jessica Alba’s cult beauty range has come over from the States and landed on the shelves of Boots. Offering everything from hydrating face mists to mascaras and beauty balms, the range uses only natural ingredients, without compromising on efficacy. We’re loving the Crème Cheek Blush – dab it on with fingers or a brush for a youthful flush of colour.
