9 Illuminators Which Give An Autumn Glow

9 Illuminators Which Give An Autumn Glow

Keen to extend your summer glow? Here, we reveal nine of our current favourite skin enhancers, guaranteed to make your complexion shine, rather than shimmer…

1. Chanel Baume Essentiel Transparent Stick, £28.05

Make-up artists swear by this highlighting balm. Completely transparent, it has a texture akin to Vaseline, but without any of that telltale stickiness. It reflects the light beautifully with zero shimmer, while delivering the type of glow that’s fresh-from-a-facial. Apply it to the high points of the cheekbones, brow bones and over the cupid’s bow for the best effect. It also mixes well with glitter for a wet-look, shimmery eye.

2. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer, £27.20

Inspired by the texture of silk, this feels lightweight on the skin and blends seamlessly with foundation. Unlike other primers it doesn’t give skin that chalky finish come 4pm, instead delivering nothing but luminosity for a subtle, highlighted effect. While it’s more of a radiance-booster than full coverage, it provides you with just enough glow that you could forego your foundation for the day if you wanted to pare things back.

3. Glossier FutureDew, £23

This has been trialled, tested and passed around the SL team since it dropped last week. The feedback? ‘Dewy’, ‘brightening’, ‘sheeny’, and ‘wet-look’ were just a few of the words used to describe this new glow-giver. With a pearly colour, it leaves skin with a glazed finish and also hydrated, thanks to oil-serum formula. Glossier advises you use it as the final step in your skincare routine, but we love buffing it in with our foundation or primer for the best illumination.

4. Huda Beauty All Over Highlighter N.Y.M.P.H, £40

Huda’s All Over Highlighter is essential for those looking to enhance their limbs and complexion. Transfer-proof, streak-free and beautifully glowy, you only need a small amount buffed over your skin for the best effect. ‘Luna’ is the best shade for lighter skin tones, while ‘Aphrodite’ suits medium complexions and ‘Aurora’ is ideal for those with darker skin. It’ll last for months on end too, which is an extra bonus.

5. Kevyn Aucoin Glass Glow Face Illuminator, £24.50

Suitable for both face and body, this combines a lightweight, sheer finish with hydrating ingredients and nourishing oils. The gel formula sinks in straight away and works well with primers, moisturisers and foundations for a soft-focus luminosity we love.

6. Marc Jacobs Dew Drops, £32

This portable cream stick highlighter is perfect for on-the-go and is universally flattering. Better still, its sheer formula makes it incredibly versatile, so you can use it over your lids, cheeks, cupid's bow and to highlight the décolletage. Its shimmer levels are subtle, too, so you never have to worry about going overboard or looking too 'done.'

8. Tom Ford Soleil Glow Drops, £33

The gelée formula is so satisfying, and when swept over the cheeks, it gives a soft, diffused highlight that makes a statement while still looking believable. Designed to enhance your bone structure, it also works to keep skin soft and plump with aloe leaf juice. One word of warning, it continues to sell out due to its popularity, so be quick!

9. Westman Atelier Lit Up Stick, £37.50

For a bit of luxury, look to Westman Atelier’s Lit Up Stick. Utilising the juicy skin benefits of both Vitis Vita Grape and Ayurvedic Oils, this gel-like formula encourages natural collagen and hyaluronic acid production while giving skin a translucent sheen. What’s more, it’s free from silicones, parabens, PEGs and synthetic fragrances – basically, all the nasty stuff.

10. Zoeva Liquid Light Drops, £16.50

Dubbed as ‘dewy skin in a bottle,’ Zoeva’s Liquid Light Drops impart subtle shimmer and leave behind a pearlescent finish that catches the light beautifully. You only need to dab a small amount on to instantly see the effects. We recommend using a buffer brush to blend it around your cheekbones and temples for full impact.
