Why Eyebrow Lamination Is Beauty’s Next Big Thing

Why Eyebrow Lamination Is Beauty’s Next Big Thing

Promising full, slicked-up brows with a high-shine finish, Brow Lamination is the latest alternative to microblading. Less invasive and more affordable, its popularity is soaring. To find out more, we spoke to Natalie Piper, International Trainer at The Eyelash Design Company…

So what is brow lamination?

Brow lamination is a process of restructuring the hairs to keep them in your desired shape. It’s an ideal treatment for anyone whose arches are irregular or who finds they have gaps and a lack of shape. Originated in Russia, it’s a treatment that’s quickly gained traction over here thanks to its visible results and affordability.

How does it work?

Put simply, brow lamination takes your unruly or thinning brow hair and smooths it out while lifting the hair in a more vertical direction. Your brows will be brushed into shape with hairs placed into the desired style and position. They will then be set with cling film and a style fixing product which has key ingredients that straighten curved hairs while ensuring symmetry. Using two different styling lotions, the brow hairs are then fixed into their new position. The end result is slicked-up brows that look like you’ve applied a clear gel – a quick look at #browlamination on Instagram will give you the idea.

Any pain or downtime?

Absolutely none. That’s one of the key differences between brow lamination and microblading. Your technician will be skilled in applying and removing products, just like make-up, so you’ll be comfortable throughout the whole process, which takes roughly 30 minutes. If a tint is included, it can be up to 45 minutes before you’re finished.

It’s said to be ‘semi-permanent’ – what does that mean?

The results last anywhere between six and eight weeks, depending on your natural brow hair. There aren’t any side effects with this treatment. You will just need to return for another session before your brows return to their normal shape.

Who is the treatment best suited to?

The beauty of brow lamination is everyone can try it. It’s ideal for those who have got unruly hairs and want to wake up without the fuss of grooming them, but also for anyone that’s fair and wants the appearance of thicker, feathery arches.

Finally, anything that needs to be done to look after the brows post-treatment?

While the maintenance is low, you may find the lamination formulas leave your brow area a little dry. Make sure you dab on some oil to replenish any moisture that may have been lost during the chemical treatment process.
