In the age of zero social interaction, we’re all looking for new things to do at the weekend from home. Consider this your guide...
Favourites 4

Missing the dining scene of Covent Garden? You can now order your favourite dishes straight to your door. A range of the square’s best eateries have joined the online revolution amid the continued shutdown of pubs and restaurants, so foodies can choose from Din Tai Fung’s famous chilli crab and pork buns, tacquitos from Sushisamba or custard tarts from Santa Nata. Other restaurants including Duck & Waffle, The Oystermen and Henrietta Bistro have also curated takeaway menus for Londoners missing their favourite dishes, available for delivery or pick up this weekend. Alongside these at-home culinary experiences, Covent Garden’s Instagram channel is also providing virtual entertainment. Tune in to see head gardener Kenny Raybould answer planting and growing questions on a weekly basis, teaching followers how to ‘grow your own’ and make homes greener, with exclusive content and online events for the week ahead announced every Monday.

GO TO THE THEATRE HERE: National Theatre At Home

It’s 1974, and Britain has a hung parliament. The corridors of Westminster ring with the sound of infighting and backstabbing as the political parties battle to change the future of the nation. During this era of chaos, when a staggering number of politicians die and age-old traditions are thrown aside, MPs find they must roll up their sleeves and bend the rules to navigate a way through the mother of all parliaments. Following two sold-out runs at London’s National Theatre in 2013, and a West End transfer, this week’s at-home broadcast is This House – a timely, moving and funny insight into the workings of British politics by James Graham (the same writer behind the recent TV smash Quiz). Directed by Jeremy Herrin, the play will be broadcast via the National Theatre’s YouTube channel at 7pm this Thursday, and will be available to watch for a week thereafter.

This new series starring comedy heavyweights Steve Carrell and Lisa Kudrow – alongside fellow Hollywood mega-star John Malkovich – lands this Friday on Netflix. A workplace comedy series (fans of Carell in the US version of The Office will feel it’s a natural fit) centres on a group of people tasked with establishing the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces: the United States Space Force. Mark Naird (Carrell) is the general in charge of the effort to get "boots on the moon" per the orders of the president – with chaos bound to ensue. Early reviews have called the series “glitzy, frivolous fun” and a “TV lover’s dream” – making it the perfect box set.

Available on Netflix from Friday 29th May
