Launched in November 2019, April’s Baker has since dedicated itself to creating cakes that showcase a glimmer of fantasy and capture vintage elegance. Clementine's Cakes

Celebrate a loved one, a special occasion or just treat yourself by ordering one of Clementine’s Cakes. Born out of lockdown and the desire to show friends and family what they really mean to us, Clementine’s Cakes combines art and baking to create memorable celebration cakes. Each bake is entirely different in its design and is baked in Clementine’s kitchen. We love the look of one of her recent bakes, which was covered in dried fruit and edible flowers.

Cake or Death

Katie Cross started her vegan cake business in early 2019. Starting with wholesale baked goods and bespoke birthday cakes, Katie quickly realised how popular Cake or Death’s brownies were. Once the pandemic hit, Katie pivoted the business from wholesale to consumer letterbox brownies: Cake or Death increased turnover by an incredible 300% in three months as customers ordered brownies for themselves and sent packages to loved ones. Based in Dalston, Katie’s delicious brownies can be sent anywhere in the UK by post, packaged up in a pink leopard-print gift box. All are dairy free and egg free and most flavours are also gluten free. If you’re sending as a gift, you can write a personal message to the recipient when you check out.

Cutter & Squidge

Cutter & Squidge is run by two food-obsessed sisters, who describe themselves as “a bit health conscious and not fans of overly fatty or sugar-laden foods”. Therefore, it makes sense that most of their sweet creations only use just enough fat and sugar content to make something delicious. We’re a big fan of their ‘Biskies’ – a biscuit, cookie or cake sandwiched with lightened buttercream, homemade jam and caramel. We love the look of their new range of nationwide postable cakes, too – and as each one is sent in a beautiful embossed tin, it makes an ideal present.

Officially the best cupcakes in London (according to multiple awards and media accolades). When it comes to design, quality ingredients and, well, flavour, Flavourtown packs a punch. Its cupcakes are stocked in Harrods and Selfridges and can be delivered across the capital. We also like the look of its ‘Ultimate Birthday Day’, filled with vanilla ‘funfetti’ and covered in colourful sprinkles. Bespoke commissions – no matter how outlandish – are also encouraged.

Using only the lightest choux pastry, this South Kensington bakery creates hand-crafted French classics with a twist. If you’re in need of a present idea, look to its Choux Boxes, which include a mix of delicate flowers and two or four éclairs of your choice.
