The Products Our Beauty Editor Has Finished Recently

SL beauty editor Rebecca Hull tries and tests hundreds of new products that land on her desk each week. Constant arrivals mean it’s rare she reaches the end of a product. So, when she does, you can be sure it’s something worth shouting about. From a sheer, dewy base to a subtle tanning mist and other everyday essentials, here are her latest empties…

1

Kevyn Aucoin Stripped Nude Skin Tint, £36

If you’re after great coverage, but something that’s also breathable and lightweight, this subtle skin tint is it. Just a few pumps will give skin a dewy finish that’s plump and healthy-looking, thanks to a good dose of hydrating hyaluronic acid. It’s easy to apply with a brush, but for full, even coverage, try using your fingers, massaging it in as you would a cream, for best results.

2

Iconic London Sheer Blush, £18

One of my favourite launches of the year, these sheer blushers have a gel-like consistency and melt into the skin for a dewy finish. Providing a healthy flush of colour, they’re easy to build and mix together if you’re after something bolder. Sweep them onto lids and lips for extra versatility, too.

Ouai Super Dry Shampoo Mojave Ghost, £20

I’ve already got through two bottles of this dry shampoo – it’s that good. Pairing one of Byredo’s best-selling fragrances (Mojave Ghost) with Ouai’s cult dry shampoo formula, this clever can helps to create cool, effortless texture, while allowing you to try what’s usually an expensive scent, for just £20. Plus, unlike other dry shampoos, the formula will keep grease at bay for at least three days, with a weighty volume that boosts even the limpest of hair.

Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Shower Oil, £26

When it comes to heady scents that envelop you in the shower, almost nothing beats these new oils from Aromatherapy Associates. I finished this ‘De-Stress’ wash in five days flat – it’s the type of liquid you want to completely soak yourself in before hitting the hay. Frankincense, petitgrain and wild chamomile work to ease knotty muscles, while the oil-based texture sinks in fast, giving limbs some serious hydration that never feels sticky or occlusive.

5

Sol De Janeiro Strengthening Shampoo & Smoothing Conditioner, £12 each

I’m a big fan of the brand’s cult Bum Bum Cream but I was concerned their shampoo and conditioner wouldn’t live up to the hype. Brimming with keratin and brazil nut, the formulas work to strengthen the hair from the root for a visibly fuller effect, although what I really loved is the sleekness it lent my strands – my hair looked smoother and silkier from the first use, concealing most of my split ends, too. Plus, the signature holiday scent is so addictive – think vanilla, almond and coconut.

6

Malin + Goetz Synthesized Musk, £40

Great for on-the-go, I can’t get enough of this portable rollerball perfume. It lasts so well on the skin, which is down to the fact it’s an oil-based formula. As for the musk-y scent, it has real depth and warmth, which has a comforting cleanliness to it. Despite how small it is, this lasted me at least six months, and you only need a few swipes for maximum results.

Bare by Vogue Williams Face Tanning Mist in Light, £13.50

It’s rare to finish tanning products at speed, but this mist was gone in just a couple of months. Available in light, medium and dark, the pump spray makes it easy to ramp up your tan without worrying about overdoing it. Simply spray over your face once for a light, gradual glow that builds up over a few hours. If you feel it’s not enough, add an extra misting the following day. Added oatmeal and chamomile means skin gets a hydrating boost, too, while antioxidants combat redness caused by pollution or UV.

8

Lumene 3-in-1 Micellar Cleansing Water, £10.93

I’m usually devoted to Garnier’s cult Micellar, but Nordic brand Lumene has launched a formula that’s not only gentle, but delivers long-lasting hydration, too. Using pure arctic spring and berry water, it saturates the skin with moisture, while the pH balanced liquid keeps skin in check and redness at bay. Plus, it removes even the most stubborn make-up – from waterproof eyeliners to liquid lipsticks. You’ll love the birch sap scent too, which is equal parts refreshing and cooling.

9

Erborian Red Pepper Pulp Gel Cream, £45

The addition of red pepper in this new, cult cream works to boost elasticity and glow, while the gel-like texture feeds skin with plumping moisture. What’s more, it’s incredibly lightweight, so it sinks in fast and never interferes with any of your other products. Use it morning and night – as you would a normal moisturiser – and you’ll soon start to see the radiance-boosting results. Especially good for those who suffer with dry or tight skin.

1

Nuxe Melting Honey Body Oil Balm, £22.50

Brimming with skin-softening honey in a cosseting oil formula, this really delivers all the silkiness you’d expect from a luxury body balm. It promises long-lasting hydration while also soothing redness and irritation – dry, flaky shins and arms don’t stand a chance. The softly sweet scent is highly addictive, too.

2

E.L.F. Cosmetics Primer Glow Oil, £10

You’d be right to think an oil primer could be counter intuitive, but e.l.f.’s clever formula is anything but. Incredibly light and airy, it melts quickly into the skin, leaving behind a dewy sheen that looks great alone or underneath your foundation for a glow-boosting effect. As it dries down, you’ll find it leaves the skin feeling cashmere-soft, acting like a veil on your complexion to diffuse enlarged pores and uneven tone. Just be sure to let it sink in before you apply another product – this way, you’ll avoid any unwanted pilling.
