Me & My IG Jen Wonders

With an eclectic style and love of all things vintage, French creative director and fashion influencer Jen Azoulay (aka @Jen_Wonders) has earned a six-figure following. From editing tips to sitting among jellyfish just to get the money shot, she took us behind the scenes of her Instagram life…

My most liked picture is…

This one is from the summer. I had left the US to see my family in the south of France and opened up in the caption how I felt about being isolated at that moment, which I think really resonated with my followers. The picture shows off my manicure, which I did myself using flower nail stickers – a fun idea that anyone can try.

My favourite Instagram outfit is…

Probably this Paco Rabanne dress because it’s so easy and fun. It’s important for me to be comfortable in my clothes but still feel feminine, and this dress was the perfect piece for the hot summer nights. I paired it with some red sunglasses and platform sandals to give the look a little edge.

My husband takes most of my Instagram pictures…

Or I love a selfie when I want to show off closer details like jewellery. It took me a long time to be comfortable posing and taking photos, but we both learned with practice how to find the right light and best angle to create imagery I like.

My most saved picture is…

The same picture that got the most likes. However, this one is the second most saved. It’s funny but it’s another picture of my nails, so I guess that says a lot about what people like right now!

I edit my photos using…

VSCO to adjust the light and add grain to my photos, plus the TouchRetouch app to quickly remove things like dirt or trash from street-style pics to create a cleaner image.

The image I wasn’t sure whether to post or not is…

This one for sure! I was working on set all day and my assistant took this photo for fun. I thought my pose looked weird but my followers loved it. It was a good lesson that sometimes people like to see real life rather than always perfectly staged photos.

The image that makes me happiest is…

This picture in Aspen, which was my first time snowboarding. I was so happy in the snow trying to get my balance – family trips are always my favourite times.

I try and switch up my poses…

But I am most comfortable sitting down. I love how the clothes fall when you’re sat and it automatically creates a sense of attitude. I love candid shots more and more lately, and sitting down definitely feels more like that.

My most used hashtag is…

#outfitinspiration – it’s to the point!

Stories are for…

Sharing some of my day, the things I like and some inspiration.

To get the right shot, it takes…

This really depends. Sometimes it’ll be a few shots and it totally works, other times I’ll take hundreds of photos and I can’t find one that I like. It’s difficult to explain, but I get a feeling when I see the one that I’ll eventually post.

The fashion piece that features the most is…

Vintage Levi’s denim. I have a few pairs that I wear on repeat.

I don't have many regrets…

When it comes to fashion. I might think, “What was I doing?” But the way I look at it is that the outfit meant something to me at the time.

The picture that was hardest to get is…

This one in Ibiza. The sun was harsh, the rocks were very uncomfortable to sit on and I was surrounded by jellyfish, which did not help!

My coolest setting has been…

Definitely the Grand Palais in Paris right after the Chanel F/W 2020/21 show. It’s my favourite place in Paris as the ceiling is just too beautiful.

My favourite holiday photo is…

Without hesitation, this one taken in Portofino. We rented a small apartment directly on the port and it gives me all the Italian vibes.

My favourite picture of myself is…

This photo was taken in the south of France on a summer night in July, enjoying a glass of rosé on a terrace. It makes me happy to look at it.

For me a good Instagram picture has to…

Evoke emotion. I think it’s important to look at my photos before posting and ask myself, do I feel something when I look at this?

I try to upload pictures that…

I love and am proud of.

The photo that sums up my Instagram the most is…

This one taken during NYFW. I am wearing a vintage dress, and as vintage is such a big part of my life and my account, it sums up what you’ll find on my Instagram perfectly.

Finally, one word to describe my account would be…

Moody.
