Me & My Instagram: Débora Rosa

Débora Rosa has long been an SL favourite for her effortless, pared-back style. Here, she talks us through her grid highlights – from staying true to her aesthetic, to risking hypothermia to get the perfect shot…

My most liked picture is

this one in my hometown, Madeira Island. It’s where I feel most relaxed, and it shows in this photo. I’m glad others seem to like it, too.

It’s so hard to choose my favourite Instagram outfit

but right now it has to be this one. It’s the perfect balance between tomboy and feminine.

Myself and my sister take most of my Instagram photos...

She lives with me, so I’m lucky to have her. She knows exactly how I like my photos to look and has a great eye, which helps.

My most saved picture is…

the same as my most liked one, but this is a close second. I think it has something to do with the amazing LouLou Studio dress I’m wearing, combined with the magical place I’m staying in. Both complement each other perfectly.

I edit most of my photos with VSCO and Afterlight...

I used to edit with different filters but I rarely do that now. I prefer more subtle changes to the exposure, shadows and contrast.

This is the photo I wasn’t sure whether to post or not...

I’m not used to having so much flesh on show, but I really liked the composition. It ended up helping me become more comfortable in my own skin.

The image that makes me happiest is…

me in Madeira island during the summer. After lockdown, this trip home felt amazing. I remember how happy I felt that day.

Because I’m so picky about what ends up on the feed, I rarely regret a post...

It needs to feel natural and be completely in line with my aesthetic, or else it doesn’t make the cut.

There are no outfit regrets either...

I always make sure I feel comfortable in what I’m wearing so this doesn’t happen. It helps that my style is quite classic and timeless.

The fashion piece that features the most is…

my old Céline Edge sunglasses. I wear them all the time and I’m still completely obsessed with them.

This picture during Paris Fashion Week was one of the hardest to get...

It was a windy and cold winter day and I was absolutely frozen.

For me, there’s no such thing as a standard pose...

It completely depends on the setting and mood as to whether I go for something dramatic, or more relaxed.

I use stories to give followers a sneak peek into my everyday life...

I like to share my music taste, workout routines and experiences to give them the opportunity to see a different side of me.

It takes several things to get the right shot...

A good eye, positive mood and a photographer that can do a decent squat…

My coolest setting has been…

this one without a doubt. I knew I wanted something powerful to match the Matteau dress and the cliff with the ocean behind was perfect.

My favourite holiday photo is…

this one in Porto Santo. I love how the green in my outfit matches with the chair. Again, I was so relaxed and happy to be here and it shows.

The mood is what makes a good Instagram photo...

If the vibe isn’t good, then the image won’t work.

I try to upload pictures that…

represent my aesthetic, vision and mood.

My favourite picture of myself is…

this one, wearing this amazing dress. I felt so confident in it and the minimal aesthetic is so me.

The photo that sums up my Instagram the most is this one...

I could have picked so many, as my images stay true to my style but this one really represents my aesthetic, which is easy, timeless, tomboyish and chic.

The one word to describe my account would be…

Aesthetic storytelling.
