What To Book In London This December

Want to book in for some fun this December? Here’s our guide for what to do in the capital. From socially distanced concerts to a selection of festive cookery classes, this is what’s still due to go ahead, and what to book now.

WATCH A LIVE PERFORMANCE HERE: Red Velvet Sessions

Four real gigs are happening in December as part of the Red Velvet Sessions Winter Festival. Taking place in an intimate setting – a chapel in east London – the festival has been curated by Fiona Bevan, co-writer for Kylie Minogue’s number one album Disco, friend of Ed Sheeran’s and writer of chart-topping songs for One Direction, Lewis Capaldi and Backstreet Boys. The first gig will feature Bevan – with subsequent shows from Gabriel Moreno, Samantha Whates and Adam Beattie – over four evenings between 9th-12th December. In-person tickets are available, where all social distancing measures will be in place, and the gigs will also be live-streamed through a high-definition, multi-camera setup that promises an experience almost as good as being the church yourself.

FEEL FESTIVE HERE: The Ivy Chelsea Garden

This year, The Ivy Chelsea Garden will be transformed into ‘Santa’s Workshop’ to celebrate the festive season. Although Christmas looks a little different this year, the restaurant is transforming its façade, this time with a homage to Santa’s mailroom, complete with reindeer stables, a giant Christmas tree and Santa’s sleigh. Throughout December, diners can also enjoy Christmas cocktails in partnership with Veuve Clicquot, including the Poinsettia – a combination of Cointreau, cranberry juice, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label and garnished with an orange twist. Those with a sweet tooth can also try its Rudolph-inspired dessert, a spin on The Ivy’s classic chocolate bombe featuring vanilla ice-cream with a honeycomb centre, hot salted caramel sauce and an edible ruby red nose and biscuit antlers.
