The world-famous NYE celebration, Hogmanay, is taking a 2020 approach to ring in the new year. With no live events planned this year, the event will – for the first time in its history – move to an entirely online celebration with a series of spectacular ‘moments’ to be watched from home. Produced by Underbelly on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council, the free online series of shows promise visually spectacular moments every evening from 28th December through to 1st January. The events will be hosted by the likes of Doctor Who’s David Tennant, award-winning poet Jackie Kay, Celtic fusion band, Niteworks and Scottish actors Lorne MacFayden and Siobhan Redmond.
Bonne Franquette X Noilly Prat
Bonne Franquette is the new scheme from Masterchef: The Professionals finalist Yann Florio – and the team has released a home banqueting box for New Year’s Eve. The meal and cocktail delivery box will be sent out on 30th December and can be delivered anywhere in the country, with both meat and vegetarian options available, from £75pp. Created using local ingredients sourced in east London, the meal delivery kit comes with everything you need to create a French-inspired five-course festive feast, complete with Noilly Prat’s ‘Le Sud’ cocktail. The cocktail will be accompanied by artisan bread with seaweed butter, followed by a choice of hors d’oeuvres, including wild mushroom pâté with marsala and tarragon pesto; and classic croque madame with 24-month aged comté.
Digital Murder Mystery Co.
Digital Murder Mystery Co has two themes in store for New Year’s Eve: Studio 54 and 1920’s Paris. The latter will be a Jazz Age-inspired soirée. Paris is one non-stop dazzling party where eccentric aristocrats dance the night away with penniless writers, in a world where anything feels possible. On this particular night, Coco is hosting another one of their famed gatherings – a who’s who of the world’s most talented, beautiful, and powerful – when one of the guests is found poisoned to death. The doors are locked, and everyone is kept inside. Someone at the party is responsible – and it’s your job to see through their glittering charm and unmask the secret killer.
Award-winning chef and restaurateur Adam Handling has launched a NYE menu box via his nationwide delivery service, Hame. The kit also includes a chocolate and raspberry delice cake and a truffled tunworth whole cheese. To round off celebrations, the Hame box also includes a bottle of Adam Handling own label English sparkling wine for your midnight toast, plus a 500ml bottled negroni cocktail from Eve Bar. The New Year’s Eve box is £350 for two people and is available to order for delivery on 30th December.

Club Mexicana has devised a decadent ‘NYE Mega Taco Box’. Start the celebrations with a plate piled high with fully loaded nachos. To follow, diners can feast on the ‘Taco Mega Mix’, featuring a medley of Club Mexicana’s classic tacos; the Al Pastor, made with homemade al pastor seitan spiked with Mexican chilis and doused in adobado sauce, accompanied by corn tortillas, caramelised pineapple and salsa verde; the BBQ Short ‘Rib’ with garlic mayo, dill pickle and slaw; and the ‘Cheezeburger’ with a burger sauce for dipping. The feast will finish with a dark chocolate orange mousse. Each menu can be upgraded with boozy add-ons of two 500ml bottles of homemade cocktails: a classic margarita or coffee-infused tequila negroni. Delivery is nationwide.
