The Summer Make-Up Palettes We Love

The Summer Make-Up Palettes We Love

When it comes to make-up this season, it’s all about colour – think soft lilacs, blues, pinks and plenty of warm, golden tones. Impactful without being overbearing, no one does it better than Urban Decay – and their latest ‘Prince’ range pays homage to the late singer, with a variety of textures on offer, all of which are easy to experiment with. Here are some of our favourite new buys, as well as how to use them…
CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH URBAN DECAY

Let’s Go Crazy Eyeshadow Palette, £49

Best For: Those Who Prefer Soft Tones

How To Use It: This palette is different for Urban Decay. Paying homage to the late superstar Prince, it’s full of lighter tones – think iridescent purples, metallic violets and soft blues, too. Ideal for those looking for something a little softer, it includes a variety of shades so you can play with colour in a subtle, more subdued way. The soft shimmers catch the light beautifully, while the luminous, velvety textures blend seamlessly together. Wear them solo for sheer wash or layer them up for more intensity – the choice is yours.

What Testers Say: “The pigment is very good with a nice quality, too.” & “The colours are intense and there are lots of flattering purple and pink shades to suit all skin tones.”

U Got The Look Eyeshadow Palette, £49

Best For: A Colourful Smokey Eye

How To Use It: Available in four finishes – satin, metallic, shimmer and matte – this palette has something for everyone. With slightly darker tones, it’s ideal for creating a summer smokey eye that’s different to your traditional blacks and browns. Inside you’ll find rich golds, purples, blues and a warm red. It’s easy to work with, too, with formulas that blend together for a seamless finish. Use your finger to mix the shadows at will, or invest in a brush to layer everything up. For even more vibrancy, always apply a primer on first – like Urban Decay’s iconic Primer Potion – to intensify the colour and keep it in place all day long.

What Testers Say: “These colours are beautiful and apply so easily. I especially love the rich gold colour.” & “Amazing for creating a smokey eye, this has lots of different textures for versatility – satin, shimmer and matte – which allows you to play around.”

…Pair Your Palettes With…

Liquid Highlighter, £22

Best For: A Believable Glow

How To Use It: Everyone needs a good glow-giver come summer and this one doesn’t disappoint. Designed to work on both your face and body, the sheer, luminous texture glides across skin easily and can be layered up for more depth. Apply it alone or mix it with other products – think foundation and body lotion – for a subtle effect. We love applying it before foundation as the glow really shines through once you’ve layer base make-up on top. Added shea butter means skin stays hydrated all day, too.

What Testers Say: “I love the subtle look of this highlighter, it’s not over the top and easy to build upon.” & “Very subtle and natural. It looks great layered with other products, too.”

Best For: A Creamy, Long-Wear Finish

How To Use It: The perfect pairing to any colour palette, this jet-black eyeliner offers such rich depth, while the creamy texture sets fast. Draw it on top of your eyeshadow, then use a brush to diffuse and blend out any harsh lines along both your upper and lower lashes. You can use it to create sharp feline flicks, too.

What Testers Say: “I love this eyeliner and the fact that the brushes smudge it so well; it also glides on really smoothly.” & “This liner is rich and pigmented, with a unique shape that makes application easy. It lasts a long time, too.”

Best For: Use With All Formulas

How To Use It: Multi-purpose make-up brushes don’t get much better than this. Designed to work with all textures and formulas, use it to apply blush, bronze, foundation and everything in between. The fluffy, vegan bristles are gentle on the skin too, but densely packed, so you get even distribution of the product. Use it with water to intensify anything you’re applying, or alternatively, a setting spray.

What Testers Say: “This brush is so nice. It has a weightiness to it and the bristles are really soft. The hole in the middle makes it great for applying foundation, too, as it distributes the formula evenly.”
