48 Hours In Ibiza: A Guide For First-Time Partiers

DAY 1

9am: Ibiza-Bound

Flights to Ibiza Airport from London take two and a half hours, and with the island becoming increasingly popular year on year, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice with airline carriers and airports. And don’t despair if you’re sat next to a stag do, it’s all par for the course – in fact, if no one ends up getting arrested once the plane lands, consider it a successful British flight to the island.

12pm: Airport Transfer

Once you reach Ibiza, the most convenient mode of transport is a taxi ride to your chosen hotel (expect to pay around €30 for a 20-minute journey). Alternatively, bus tickets cost €3.50 and, although they take a little longer than private transfers, are generally reliable and visit most main parts of the island.

1pm: Checking In At THB Ocean Beach

Located on the west of the island, THB Ocean Beach is the perfect combination of fun and relaxation. An adult-only hotel, it boasts everything from spa treatments, hot tubs and a gym, to a luxurious pool and lounge beds overlooking the magnificent Ibiza coast. With private access to Ocean Beach Club and the ultimate day party Ibiza has become famous for, it’s not hard to see why this hotel is popular with jetsetters worldwide.

When it comes to the San Antonio location, don’t let the name put you off (it’s not all 18-year-olds on their first trip away any more). In the past year, trendy bars, restaurants, shops and outdoor concerts have opened up in the area – meaning you won’t have to waste your limited time travelling all across the island – plus, some of the best sunsets in Ibiza are enjoyed from the west, with the Ocean Beach balcony’s offering premium viewing.

2pm: Getting Party-Ready

For the ultimate body paint and glitter experience, a trip to Kiss My Fairy is a must. Opening its doors in 2011, it’s now the must-visit spot for vacationers and celebrities, including Michelle Keegan and the cast of TOWIE. Providing make-up, hair styling, glitter and body painting, their professional artists will have you looking as glamorous or as outrageous as you like – whether it’s a dusting of glitter or full-on animal print coverage you’re after, one thing’s for sure: you’ll walk out looking your most fabulous when they’re done. 

Due to their popularity, it’s best to book your appointment ahead of your visit. You can either head into the boutique and embrace the buzzing atmosphere or arrange to be glammed up in the comfort of your hotel.

11pm: Creating Midnight Memories

For those with stamina, Pacha is the place to go post-pool party. If you’re feeling wiped out, a quick fiesta is sure to help, or – if you’re really not feeling it – simply retreat to the spa or take an evening stroll along the harbour. Just a few minutes’ walk from Ocean Beach, you’ll be greeted with beautiful beaches, outdoor bars and cute cafes (even if you’re going out-out, we guarantee you’ll want to make this a part of your nightly routine).

This summer, the superclub club will see the hottest DJ’s perform including David Guetta, Afrojack and Jonas Blue. Expect some serious glitz – think neon flashing lights and a glitter-filled dance floor – but wear shoes you’re happy to walk around in (trust us when we say the club is huge).

To get to and from Pacha, the quickest transport option is a taxi. Or, for those looking to keep budgets to a minimum, there’s also the Disco Bus (yes, really) – a night bus that takes you to and from San Antonio to the clubs in Talamanca and Playa den Bossa. Tickets to the club start from €50 online and can be more on the door, so again, it’s well worth booking in advance.

DAY 2

9am: Refuelling At Skinny Kitchen 

An island that mixes luxury, hedonism, and holistics into one, Ibiza is all about balance. So after some self-indulgence, why not give your body some self-love at Skinny Kitchen.

From pancakes that are actually good for you, to matcha lattes and poached eggs on toast, this health-conscious eatery serves up the stuff every Insta wellness guru’s dreams are made of. And we haven’t even started on the seriously photogenic interiors…

11am: Island-Hopping

Before returning to the party buzz, take a boat trip around the island to experience its peaceful side – all crystal blue waters and picture-perfect landscapes. Catering for all group sizes, prices start from €69, and if you’re in the mood for a combination of exploring, sunbathing and water sports, then we’d recommend a half-day tour to make the most of it.

2pm: Enjoying A Boozy Lunch With A View

After cruising the island, it’s time to head to one of Ibiza hidden gems, Maya Beach Club. Tucked away in the secluded Calla Vadella Bay, with its modern chic interior, dining here will feel like true Mediterranean paradise. 
 
When it comes to the menu, everything from pistachio burrata, fresh lobster and traditional Spanish paella features, with an exclusive wine list to match. SL’s top tip? The best views of the bay are from the club’s terrace, so be sure to request a table here when booking. 

When to visit Ibiza…

Feeling tempted to book a break this summer? There’s still time… Closing parties don’t start until mid- to late-September, and return plane tickets from Gatwick can be purchased for as low as £53 – a steal for this time of year.
 
With an average temperature of 26°C, Ibiza is beautiful all year round. During the summertime the island sees a spike in holidaymakers, with August being their peak month. So if you’re looking to visit when it’s a little less crowded, then consider travelling in June or mid-September when the closing parties begin and liveliness dies down ever so slightly.
