The Designer Resale Sites Worth Knowing

Thanks to a range of next-generation platforms, it’s never been easier to sell your old designer pieces and do some good for the planet at the same time. Here are the sites and resellers to have on your radar.

Cudoni

Cudoni offers a convenient, hassle-free selling service and its team takes care of everything, including collecting your items and having them expertly valued. All you have to do is give them a call or fill out a form. As a platform, it’s become a go-to for fashion insiders wanting premium luxury for less – there are often wait-listed or hard-to-find pieces from big names like Chanel, Hermès and Bottega readily available. It’s worth signing up for notifications about Cudoni’s occasional charity sales, too.

HEWI

One of our favourite destinations for pre-loved luxury recommerce, HEWI – short for Hardly Ever Worn It – plays host to an excellent roster of brands and offers an easy-to-use service for buyers and sellers alike. After creating a profile, simply upload each of your items and manage your sales. It’s also well worth a browse: from hardly worn to never worn, Celine to Saint Laurent, Monica Vinader to Miu Miu, there’s a lot to be tempted by.

Harvey Nichols

Harvey Nichols has teamed up with Refaunt to open a new reselling service. Available in most of its stores, customers can part with their pre-loved designer goods in exchange for cash or store vouchers. All you have to do is fill in a form to provide a bit of detail about your items and drop your pre-loved pieces off at your nearest store, where they’ll be photographed and sold across a global network of sites.

NET-A-PORTER

Another Reflaunt collab that follows the same principles, the NET-A-PORTER x Reflaunt partnership is designed to make the pre-loved selling experience as seamless as possible. Together, they’ll take care of everything – even collecting items from your home. They then photograph, list and price each piece before you choose how you want to receive your payment.

Rites

You can sell and rent your items through the Rites wardrobe management service. It's free to list items – a bonus compared to other platforms out there. As well as designer names like Gucci and Prada, Rites is big on contemporary brands. Expect to find pieces by the likes of Ganni, Rixo and Staud – and all in excellent condition.

Vestiaire

This wouldn’t be a complete list without Vestiaire Collective. If you’re looking to give anything in your wardrobe a second life, this is one of the leading online marketplaces for authentic pre-owned luxury fashion – and the good news is the brand already has a global community of buyers poised to purchase. Although there is a quality control process available for high-ticket items, they do accept a bigger cross section of affordable brands – from Zara to Prada, the options are almost limitless.

Farfetch Second Life

Farfetch Second Life allows customers to trade in their designer bags in exchange for credit to shop new season collections on the site. They’re currently only accepting bags from a selection of luxury brands – the full list can be found online – but the process is as simple as sending a picture in exchange for a quote. They also happen to have one of the best curated and presented pre-owned sections we’ve seen. If you’re operating a one in, one out wardrobe policy, it’s definitely worth considering.
