Our Junior Fashion Editor’s Picks Of The Month

From lust-worthy new collections to cool, new brands, SL’s Junior Fashion Editor Polly Sayer runs you through this month’s must-have, must-know and must-see fashion…

The Spring Shoe

It can be tricky to know what shoes to wear at this time of year – boots look like overkill, yet it’s too early sandals. A pair of white leather ballet flats strikes just the right balance – they’re chic, practical and go with just about everything. I treated myself to Neous’ Phinia style for my birthday – I’m obsessed with the square toe and ruched detail, but there are plenty of affordable options on the high street, too.

The Sustainable Label

If you’re a fan of Zimmermann and Ulla Johnson, you’ll love Australian brand ALÉMAIS and their eclectic mix of boho prints and whimsical shapes. The good news is the brand is launching in the UK this month. By curating a collection that supports artisanal communities, the label aims to reduce its impact on the environment, too, and promotes an honest and respectful relationship with all of its suppliers.

The Bag

You can usually bet on raffia bags staging a comeback as soon as spring arrives, but the practicality issues surrounding basket styles have always put me off buying one. With its sensible crossbody strap and flap fastening, Isabel Marant’s Botsy bag could change my mind, and at under £400, it won’t break the bank either.

The Fun Brand

Playful and full of statement silhouettes, Russian brand Abitu World is the antidote we all need after a year of loungewear monotony. The collection features billowy tops and dresses in bold fabrics like jacquard and taffeta – it’s one to earmark for June 21st.

The Jewellery

Who said pearls are passé? As London-based brand La Grotta Collective proves, they’re anything but. From delicate bracelets to statement necklaces, the brand puts a contemporary spin on classic pearls, all of which are combined with hard-wearing 14k or 18k solid gold.

The New Collection

British brand Tove’s SS21 collection is full of timeless silhouettes, but also pops of fuschia, marigold and cobalt. I’ve got my eye on a bralette and culotte set for those holidays we’ll hopefully be able to go on.
