The SheerLuxe Mother’s Day Shoot

SL Founder & Editor Georgie Coleridge Cole and her mother Anna
What has your daughter taught you?
A: To be a bit braver with my wardrobe, but, above all, shown me that it’s possible to run a business, be a loving mother of three children, a wife and a fantastic daughter to me.
What do you think you've taught her?
A: I hope I’ve taught her to be genuine and considerate and to have a good sense of humour.
The best advice your mum has ever given you?
G: To marry a kind man. She was right, of course.
One style tip you've learnt from your mum?
G: That blondes need eyebrows, suit navy better than black and that you should always make an effort.
How would you characterise your style?
A: Simple and classic.
G: As above!
Tell us about your outfit?
A: I love the colour of the jacket and although I wouldn't normally go for double breasted it worked well with a simple white T-shirt and stretchy white jeans.
G: We wore the same jacket but I went for the full suit. I love how you can take something formal like a suit and make it current with trainers and nothing under the jacket.

Deputy Editor Astrid Carter and her mother Shirley
What has your daughter taught you?
S: To be stronger and to have the confidence had when I was younger. She’s definitely encouraged me to be more adventurous and always use the good bath salts.
What do you think you've taught her?
S: To be ambitious and work hard. To be kind and compassionate.
The best advice your mum has ever given you?
A: That manners cost nothing.
One style tip you've learnt from your mum?
A: To wear what you love and that it’s cool to be a little different. I’ve sadly inherited her expensive taste though, too.
How would you characterise your style?
S: Eclectic – anything from classic Chanel to 70s chic.
A: It depends on the day, I can be really tomboyish and a little rock‘n’roll, or super girly, but there always has to be something a little undone and dishevelled.
Tell us about your outfit?
S: I loved the Chanel-esque jacket because it’s versatile and can be dressed up or down. The sporty neckline made it a bit modern, too.
A: You can always count on a tweed jacket from Zara – there’s usually one each season I’ve got my eye on. I like to play them down with plain tees and jeans.

Fashion Editor Charlotte Collins and her mother Simone
What has your daughter taught you?
S: That it’s possible to have boundless unconditional love.
What do you think you've taught her?
S: Hopefully, to be proud, independent and strong. Cooking, not so much.
The best advice your mum has ever given you?
C: Girlfriends are the most important relationships you'll have. And always take your make up off before you go to sleep.
One style tip you've learnt from your mum?
C: When you find something you look great in, buy in bulk.
How would you characterise your style?
S: Very classic with a modern twist – the odd print here, or trend-led piece there.
C: Polished and comfortable with a touch of boho – I love a floral print or floor-skimming wide leg.
Tell us about your outfit?
S: This look is pretty in keeping with my usual style – a floral blouse and tapered trousers is my failsafe combination.
C: I've already earmarked this & Other Stories floral piece for summer's big events.

Head of Fashion & Product Lu Hough and her mother Nicky
What has your daughter taught you?
N: To believe in myself, have confidence, and that I can do anything if I put my mind to it (although that’s easier said than done).
What do you think you've taught her?
N: I think I’ve taught her to be kind, considerate and loving.
The best advice your mum has ever given you?
L: Go with your gut instinct
One style tip you've learnt from your mum?
L: Get your boots re-heeled regularly.
How would you characterise your style?
N: Casual, but modern. I'm interested in the trends but I’m certainly not a trendsetter.
L: Classic and relaxed, but with an edge
Tell us about your outfit?
N: I like the white cotton blouse from Cos, it looked great either tucked in or out of jeans. The straight blue Mango jeans comfortable and versatile for daywear and travelling
L: A stiff white blouse is a wardrobe essential but the scallop edge sleeve gives a modern twist on a classic shape. The vintage wash straight denim goes with everything and the Ganni slingbacks with bow detail elevate the simplicity of white shirt and jeans.
